This is t-mobile best phone sadly its a dull piece of hardware (Extremely). Here is why...
Requirements: Only supported by t-mobile's network (crap 3g) wont work on At@t
U must have a data plan
U must have a gmail,
U must renew your contract even after paying full price for the phone
U must be in a area with 3g (will work poorly on edge dont believe me ask Eric Signal Quality
U must write down (contacts otherwise void warranty for switching sim cards)
U must use finger only (no gloves, no stylus or even a finger nail while using this device)

Features: No Video Camera
No Video messaging
No Computer Sync
No bluetooth transfer
No Voice Command I would go into detail but id be here forever on voice command)
NO speed di...

Very few valid points Sprint Pimp:

-Data plans are standard for most smartphones
-gmail is free. I love being forced to get free things 🀣
-Contract renewals are nothing new for getting new phones
-what idiot would use gloves while typing on a cellphone? not a valid complaint
-bluetooth transfer is limited on many carriers
-Voice command on most phones is crude at best, none on my palm either
-video cameras on all cell phones are crap. the G-1 just saved us the trouble
-predictive text is not needed on phones with full QWERTY keyboards

Lots of flaws only in DiamondPro's "expert" 🀣 analysis

U must have a data plan "so does the iphone"
U must have a gmail,"gmail is free stop crying"
U must renew your contract even after paying full price for the phone " not true idiot, the iphone does, this does not"
U must be in a area with 3g "you dont have to, it's just better, like driving downhill, required? no. better? yes
U must write down (contacts otherwise void warranty for switching sim cards)"completly untrue, wow you must be dumb"
U must use finger only "i doubt anything with a touch screen can be used with gloves, unless you press really really hard"

The point is the Diamond and the Pro or any other Sprint phone does not require a data plan its an "Option" this phone will not WORK WITHOUT IT 😲 . So if you don't need or don't want a data plan you cant use this phone or if you dont pay your bill not only does t-mobile disconnect your service they now disconnect your phone. I know gmail is free so is every other email in the world. How can a phone be any where close to the best if it forces you to do things. You do have to renew your t-mobile contract the data plan the g1 has automatically renews your contract. Don't believe me call them and ask. The performance drops drastically without 3g so what the point of buying the phone if its slower than the one you have now on the same network. I...

Diamond,

Don't waste your time trying to stop people from purchasing this phone. For they already have made up their mind that they're going to buy it. It's kind of like the Iphone all over again. Just let it be known, when the CDMA Android phone drops it's going to be very powerful.

Yeah, so, I currently work for AT&T. I have T-Mobile as my carrier. First of all, you are annoying DiamondPro. I live in Texas, and in Texas, SPRINT SUCKS. So whatever you have to say, doesn't matter. AT&T and T-Mobile Rox my sox. You can't beat them, Sprint can't beat them, and no other carrier can beat them. Did you know that sprint built railroads before they came into the cellular world? I don't think you did. Anyway, on to the topic. My friend has the G1, I played with it. I liked it. For the most part. Few problems...

#1: No video recordings. I need it so it's a problem.

#2: No video messages. Need that too.

#3: It doesn't have too many apps on there.

#4: No Macromedia Flash. Need that for games...

Conclusion: Phone was ...

If you hate this phone so much why do you keep wasting your time writing about it?

I have the phone and I love it. I have owned and tried many different phones and every service provider. The G1 is a very good phone, and T-mobile has the best customer service. This combination works for me thats why I picked what I did.

If you don't like the service or the phone don't buy them.

To go the T-mobile section (Which you hate) is a waste of yours and everybody elses time. To continually bash something just for the sake of bashing it is childish and ridiculous. All this "Hidden Info" has been all over the internet for months.

Like I said before, if you don't like the phone or service that's your choice, but you can't try to force your i...

Let them have their "voice." Besides, what would something great be without people who hate. It's like god to aetheism (with no way trying to compare this phone to god; just using the analogy) People tend to get be scared of something with great amount of power with no one or thing as it's equal. You're always gonna have doubt or fear of something this big. And no one likes to be scared alone, so they try to reach out to their followers! Good luck, but overall this phone works magic. If you don't buy one, go into your local t-mo store and just try it out! Don't hold up a line behind you while doing so, Lol!

This response is to whitesol123. Data plans are not standard by any means. They will help you get the most use out of your smartphone and improve quality but are not required. If you buy the g1 even at full price you still must have a data plan. This is not an option with t-mobile. The g1 wont even make a call without a data plan 😲 on top of that it wont even let u access the programs 😳 even if you have a regular service plan. 🀨 Contract renewals only make since if you get the discounted price but not if you pay full price for the phone. 😑 You should be able to enjoy your phone with out extending your contract 2 more years. πŸ™‚ Hmmm who would use gloves with there phone? Maybe everyone in new york or anywhere that has cold weather. Wint...

Customers do it all the time with the sidekick. some people just want a fancy phone without the extra cost, i mean options are always great thats what i say. i know i will always have a data plan on my phone but thats by choice. i just like the option of taking it off if i want. maybe bills are not looking so good one month and you need to sacrifice $30 or so. i know it sounds silly but also why use a dta plan if you have wifi on your phone. its just choices are great.

I agree paying for a data plan is a smart ideal from T-Mobile. Verizon make all there customers that have a smart phones have a data plan. They will also be making new customers that are getting the Dare have the $15 VCast no matter what!!! ItΓƒΒ’Γ’β€šΒ¬β„’s just a smart business!! 😎

I think that's where this Diamond kid is coming from.

For a lot of sidekick users, a data plan would be useless, so it makes sense not to require one

Business users (I am one of them) would pay anything to stay in touch. 😁 The cost of not staying in touch is lost business. We want our data plans. WiFi is nice but it still keeps you tied down to hotspots. You need the carriers actual network for the rest.

Nice to have choices, I agree.

My next phone is the BB storm. They have crammed so many frequencies in that phone that there is no room for WiFi in the version I am getting.

I am keeping an eye on the android platform. Lots of promise for a brand new OS

I think predictive text is useless. I would rather tap my phones buttons how ever many times needed to type words. I got quick fingers so I don't need no predictive text. Contacts should'nt be a problem. You got a sim card...USE IT! Copy the first half, transfer, copy in phone. Go back to the other phone, copy the other half, and move over to new phone. As for pictures, videos, etc. memory card or send in messages to your e-mail address.

What I am trying to say is, there are ways around it. I know I and the whole world is lazy, but you got to do something, everything doesn't happen automatically. MOVE!

Enjoy.

I am not quite sure where you get your information from, DiamondPro, but it is not required to have a data plan for the G1 to work. It works fine without a data plan. All applications work and you can make regular phone calls the same as any other phone. You can even setup a T-Zones proxy and use EDGE for $5.99. While it is not as fast as 3g, it is still just as fast as any other phone using EDGE (I have speed tests to prove it) And if you purchase a G1 at full price they do not extend your contract. Besides, a full priced G1 @ $399.99 is still a better deal than a full price Mogul @ $549.99 (per sprints website). As for your little comment about gloves, I live in northern Minnesota which is quite a bit colder than New York. I have n...

As for all of the contacts and calendar information, that is stored in the clouds in your gmail account. They also have apps that allow sync'ing with exchange. What do you need to worry about your contacts being stored on the SIM if they are safely on a server for you to access anytime?

I really shouldnt add my 2cents to this, but, im bored and have about 1hr left before I go home. So...

I would just like to say, as a manager of a cellphone company that sells T-Mobile, Sprint/Nextel and Boost, T-Mobile sells better then Sprint. As for Nextel? I average 2-4 a month. Seriously. After Nextel hooked up with Sprint, Nextel went to hell. Before they merged, I sold more Nextels (bleep bleep) then anything else. After they merged, its been mostly T-Mobile.

Now, with that said. I want to also add that we have had more customer issues on the Sprint end then on the T-Mobile end.

I dont say any of this to question DP's thoughts or actions. In fact, I enjoy reading what DP has to say. He/She is a kind of comic relief here in ...
