Last Chance: Any Video Capture?

I have my G1 boxed to be returned. Not having a video camera is a deal breaker for me. I thought an app would come out to take care of it, then Rich said: "That's something that would probably require specific API support. I doubt it's there, or someone would have done it by now."

Unless someone can give me some hope, this phone is gone. I will await the Samsung Behold.

Im getting the Samung Behold (T919) also. Its a different type of phone though. The T919 is more of a improved Instinct where the G1 is a improved iPhone. So youll get a different feel about it. The T919 looks good and feels good (I played with it at a meeting). So It would be safe for you to wait for that...should be out around Nov. 10th.

However, I just want to add that the G1 doesnt need Video Capture. It would be nice, true, but it wouldnt push the phone into any new tiers. Video capture has never really been twicked enough for cellphones. Though you can capture "ok" videos with other phones, the G1 is simply a phone for other features.

Not for nothing, but, between you and I, I like the T919 better. Shhh. I didnt say that.

Whoa! This changes everything.

I know shooting video on phones ain't fancy but it's better than nothing. CIF or QVGA is decent and I at least get to record my kids' voices. I just don't have a regular video camera when I need it.

asLeepLessman, let's say I keep my G1 for now and then decide to sell it later because I want the T919 (Behold). Will my data plan for the G1 work on the T919.

There was a guy posting on the Tmobile forums saying that he was going to release a video app for the phone but the day that it was suppose to launch has come and gone. As for a video option I would say it will come sooner then later. You have to remember that the phone has only been out for 8 days. The emulator has been out for a while but there is only so much you can program without havnig the hardware in hand.

This is what I would do, depending on your state you have a 14 or 30 day return policy. I would wait, if video capture is the only thing you don't like aboutt he phone. The Behold is going to be a nice phone but will have an onscreen keyboard similar to the iphone. It will also have 5mp camera. The on screen keyboard I ...

As for the plan they will be different plans but similar in price.
Tmo Slave is pretty much right on point with this. The Video will be out at some point. However, the T919 comes out in about another week or so. With that in mind, I would say keep the G1 until that day (which may be within your 14-39 day return time). If at that point you still arent happy with the G1 (assuming the video capture app hasent arrived by th...

My 14 days will be up before November 10. I went ahead and returned my Bronze G1 today. I will use an old phone for a little while. After I have a chance to check out the Behold, I will either get that or get a Black G1. I figured I should return my phone before time runs out to keep my options open. I had decided that I like the Black G1 more than the Bronze anyway.
