So now that the G1 has been out for a few days, anyone know if there's a way to use t-zones with it?

t-zones is not compatible with the g-1 the same way the sidekick aren't why do you need t-zones when the phone come with "market" plus you HAVE to have data on the phone so ringtones are everywhere. like myxer.com for example. kinda silly

Maybe I should clarify...

Is there a way to set T-Zones up so that it could be used as your data plan instead of the full priced plan that is required? Like the way that you could with the SDA, MDA, Dash, etc.

I'm not going to have 3g in my market anytime soon and paying 35 dollars a month for something that I will rarely use (cause the speeds woould be so slow) is not something that I want to do.

I've used T-Zones as my internet connection with the SDA in the past after trying the 19.95 plan that wasn't any faster. Since the G1 has wifi, I'll be able to connect at higher speeds when there's a nearby connection.

Any ideas if this is possible?

getting the 19.99 one doesnt mean your goin to get faster internet it means your going to have access to more websites. and no you wont be able to trade in the 35.99 data package for t-zones. especially when t-zones is not compatible with the g1. the phone still runs without 3g they say its not that much faster so does that mean that the 3g is slow?

You can use the tzone plan to go to all the websites you can on the regular data plan. I have also got the tzones to runa t full 3g speed on a different phone and it is alot faster.

T-zones "isn't compatible" with the SDA either but there was a work around that made it compatible. And that work around made it possible to access the same websites (not just WAP sites) any data plan could access (whether it was wifi, 19.99, or whatever). If one made some adjustments, then it worked just fine.

So I'm wondering if there is a work around, an adjustment, a tweak, or whatever you want to call it for the G1 that lets you subscribe to the t-zone package and pay $5.99 instead of paying $35 and get all the benefits of using EDGE with the phone.

I’m not expecting high speed. And I’d be willing to pay the $35 a month if I was a heavy data user. But since I will rarely use the internet on the phone, maybe twice a week...

Not sure if you folks know this or not, but you only need the $25 or $35 on set up. Once your G1 is up and running, you can drop the data plan and use your T-Zones or dont use data at all.

Now, that takes care of you paying $25 or $35 but it doesnt solve the trick about using T-Zones as a data connect. The answer to that is no, you cant use T-Zones in the manner with the G1. T-Zones simply cant handle the amount of data the G1 is sending and recieving.

Truth be told, you may not use the net a lot right now, but with the G1, you will. You will be downloading FREE apps every day. Updates, live changes made to your contacts and so forth. I think you could make the best of $35.
