How frusterating!

This is exactly what Phonescoop is perfect for.
This so looks like the perfect phone on paper.
It has every major feature I'm looking for.
Not only that, it's that ONLY phone in production that has every major feature I'm looking for.
But then you glance in the forums and there's the real measure of the phone.
It's a lemon.

Sigh.
With GSM phones, the number of phones with my wanted feature-list was taking days to go thru.
With Verizon phones, this one is about it!
And I thought I had rather mild requirements!

Have you explored the possibility of going POCKET PC vs. Palm ?

I've considered it, but I've got so little confidence in Microsoft that I don't think I will.
Just the thought of my phone being hacked into by some automated worm-robot-program disgusts me.
I've had enough headaches rebuilding Windows boxes.
I'd rather not have to worry about running firewalls on my phone and licensing anti-virus software for it and keeping all of that updated.

At this point I'm probably going to go with a "dumbphone" under Verizon.
I've went from a huge laundry list of neat features to just:
- speakerphone
- tiny
- good battery life
- as few stupid, time consuming animations as possible

And it looks like the smallest speakerphones out there are Audiovox and rumor has it they're leaving the market.
Kinda ...

Kyocera KOI. Do some research on that phone. I am in the process of getting a test unit. From what I have heard, it should have all the features you are looking for.

The Kyocera Koi KX2?

It's a tiny bit bigger than the Audiovox 8910 (according to the specs anyway. Do these things measure with or without the antenna anyway?) which is what they're pushing at my local Verizon store:

Koi: 3.94" x 1.97" x 0.98"
8910: 3.90" x 1.80" x 0.90"

And the Koi claims to have less battery life too.
But then these claims aren't always reality ;-)

And of course Kyocera's not announced plans to leave the market either.

I'm going to post in the Koi forum asking how folks like that swivel design.
I want to know if it has a purpose other than being different.
But of course discussing that here would be off topic ;-)

Thanks for the suggestion.

Not a problem. I work as a Network Engineer for a national wireless company (cannot mention name) - so I can get a hold of most of the handsets before they hit the market. I know there are several KOI's floating round the office. I will try and get my hands on one and give you my opinion...
