Stand Alone GPS

Hey guys. Can anyone who has this phone tell me if it has stand alone GPS, that is GPS that can work without the Sprint Data service. I want to use the GPS through a program like Garmin XT, Destinator or TomTom for Windows.

I now have the Treo 800W and it only works on the Sprint network. I want a phone that works like a regular car GPS system that uses software to connect directly to a satellite, not to a Sprint wireless tower. (don't want to sign up for the data plan)

If you don't plan on getting a data plan you will have to pay full price for the phone, so you are better off just getting a stand alone GPS. I think the GPS is pretty much the same as the GPS in the new Treo 800. You can find a program that works for windows with that phone I think so you should be able to get GPS without going online with your Treo. It does require data usage to get the program though (unless you do it through your computer)...

So you are saying that there are GPS programs out there you can download to your cellphone to use so you dont have to use the ones from Spring and VZ? If so what programs and where can i get them and what they called????? And do they cost money to get?

This may be useful. It worked for HTC Mogul.
