Nokia E71 / E71x

I have an issue with my phone where every incoming number has a '1' in front of it as if it were long distance. This wouldn't be an issue, but Nokia's computer software doesn't recognize the incoming number as a contact. This issue was fixed by adding the '1' to my contacts, however, many of my contacts have multiple phone numbers and when I try to set a number as a default for the contact, the phonebook applcation crashes and I can't set the default. This doesn't happen when I have the standard 10 digit number saved without the leading '1'. Does anyone know of a fix?

I have trouble explaining things so sorry if this doesn't make any sense. If you need clarification, just ask.
