One of the reasons I purchased the E71 is for the WLAN feature. I had a TREO and had to pay for Internet every month. I only need the web whenever I am near wireless areas anyway, so the Internet package is a waste for me.

When I signed my contract, I specifically told AT&T that I did not want the Internet whatsoever. My first month I got a $300 phone bill with over $150 worth of web charges! When I called, they told me I was automatically set up on a pay-by-use plan. I promptly advised them that I did not order ANY Internet and to disable all AT&T Internet connectivity. My phone works just fine when I am near WLAN and I don't pay a dime. They did take all of those charges off my bill.

Make sure you make that VERY CLEAR to AT&T if you do not want to pay for anything. I still can't believe they do that to everyone that doesn't buy the total Internet package Confused .
