I browsed a couple of pages here and didn't see a thread with this title.

So is it possible to tether the iPhone 3G with a laptop to use for Internetz access? I've googled this query and everything points to having to Jailbreak the phone. So is there a way to do it w/o Jailbraking?

My understanding is that at one time there was an app, but it was pulled from the app store. No specifics were given as fact, but opinion/rumor stated that AT&T felt it would take up bandwidth and put the nix on it. I don't really know the true fact.

At this time, there IS something in the works. Ralph de la Vega, CEO of AT&T said as much. We just have to see when it materializes. Also, bear in mind that it will probably be a tethering plan, similar to what is offered for the other smartphones.....

You're looking at $30 extra a month for a 5 gig data cap on tethering. As for right now, you cannot tether without jailbreaking.

And even if you did jailbreak and tether, AT&T will be able to tell, and might charge you up the wazoo.

I know, i know. It sucks.
