Has anyone here had any luck waiving the activation fee? I don't want to pay a company to give them my business. Thanks!

The fee also helps ATT recover some of the costs associated with acquiring a new customer, such as marketing costs, equipment subsidy costs, and the operational costs to process the activation. The fee allows ATT to offer lower priced phones.becasue the prices that are offered by the providers arent what the phones are actually worth the phones are actually worth much more.

Hey DORKADORK:

I was aloyal VZW customer for a long time. If ATT wants my business, they should not sodomize me to get my business. 200 for a phone and a 2 year commitment should be enough to get my business!

$200 for a $400 piece of equipment....

Believe me when I say this:

If you're going to gripe about $36 bucks, we don't want your business....

You're too much of a pain in the @$$ before starting service.

I think most of the people here who work for a cell phone company would agree with me on this one....

Fine, if Apple doesn't want my business, then I will stay with Verizon and pay no "activation Fee". Case closed!

Fine, don't buy an iPhone. Like we care if you stay on VZW.

Funny thing is, I can waive activation fees almost whenever I want, because of people I know. I only do it when someone deserves it, however. (Not you.)

Seriously though, why should I pay an extra fee to give another company my business? They are getting a two year contract from me. VZW is begging me to stay with them, so I should pay ATT for the privilege?

because you can have cellphone service with ANYONE you've decided that at&t is a viable solution to you leaving Verizon--- YOUR the one signing up with at&t its not like they are forcing you to leave Verizon your just looking for "better" service why should at&t bite the bullet when your the one making the choice?

You are right, nobody is forcing me to leave Verizon. So if ATT won't waive the fee, I will stay with Verizon and they will get my next two years of business. So if ATT wants to play hardball over 36 dollars, they lose out in the long run.

... so you would rather have $3 more a month or be like verizon and have a smartphones require a $30 data package

I would have to have the data package with the IPhone as well, so it's a wash. As a matter of fact, a RIMM Storm would be cheaper with Verizon than with ATT IPhone.

... good then don't join at&t we don't want your cheap @$$ anyways! If you can't pay you can't play!

(by supporting Verizon your actually supporting Vodafone a mobile provider based out of the UK your not supporting American jobs and your helping cause the destruction of more American corporations. So if you don't love america then stay with Verizon)

Wow Dude I wonder if you realize that the other half is An american company that tries its hardest to keep jobs in america and has all of their service sectors , It ,customer service, sales, tech support based completely in the USA ,and Oh wait i dont think At&t does that do they? And At&t has a rather large non domestic share holder outside the Us as well. 🤣

Oh yeah I love how their biggest sales pitch is pushing not staing in the U.S....Isn't that more unamerican

well its probably because of the mentality that the us carriers give people when they give them free phones it totally screws up thier preception on the actual value of phones. mobile phones arent cheap they are very sophistaced peices of equipment even the ones that carriers give away for free are sophisticated peices of equipment that allow people to talk to each other across the globe without wire that is a very expensive technology to keep running and if you have to pay an activation fee to keep the wires moving and the infrastucture improving so be it i want my service to work when i need it to. pay a nonminal fee to keep the chains moving isnt a big deal.

Note to moron: Verizon does the same thing, exactly. 18 to upgrade, 35 to begin. They aren't that much better. They're a business.

If you can't afford 36, then you can't afford a 70 dollar a month iPhone plan.
