Hi,

What exactly is the update going to do wasn't really covered in "Let's Rock" deal in San Francisco. It was glanced over and just said "It would be available on Friday and it had bug fixes"... no real mention of anything new added... who knows, but the "secrecy" surrounding these announcements is just getting plain stupid... IMHO.

If Steve Jobs thinks that "Let's Rock" was ground breaking in any sense of the word whether it was about the new iPods or the iPhone... well, I didn't see or hear anything that wowed me... very disappointing and he's going downhill in regards to "ground breaking" stuff.

Yeah but Steve Jobs managed to do the ONE thing he has been doing for years.....he related to his "fanboi" base who all seem to be under his spell.
They are all lucky his name isn't Jim Jones 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣

Downloaded 2.1, took maybe 10 minutes from start to finish. No problems downloading or installing.
(Mac 10.5.4, iTunes 8, iPhone original)

-Significant improvement with lag throughout
-My bluetooth (Plantronics 520) now works with Visual Voicemail
-Genius appears under Playlists after you sync and Genius has to be activated in iTunes

So far that's all I've come across. The other fixes will become apparent with use.

2.1 Took me several hours of errors before it finally installed on my phone although it may have been due to an existing bug on my phone.
Just last week I was listening to music on my iphone when I got a call so I activated my jawbone bluetooth and after the call ended to my surprise there was music playing in my ear! Not stereo bluetooth but it was nice while it lasted since 2.1 update yesterday KILLED IT!

Very noticeable call quality improvement and no crashes yet!

No difference in battery, still only 1.5 hours talk time on 3G.

Phone is much faster though navigating through "Phone" icon.

My free voice dialing that I'd gotten from the apps store stopped working after I upgraded. Deleted it, went to the apps store to download again, now it costs $4.99. BS. It s/b free as most phones come w/it built in!!

So far I'm not impressed with the upgrades (any of them).

Dude: when apple releases 2.1, the developers still need time to make sure they're app works with 2.1, hense the free update on apps........so just wait it out and it'll work again once the update goes through for the app.

2.1 is the BEST. I've noticed a massive difference in battery life. It works two days without charging now! Of course, I've set it up to tremedously save power....IE: location off, push data on, but not on emails. auto brightness is still on, but brightness setting is very low. super loud ringtones, bluetooth off.

LOVE 2.1.

I bet if you put the phone in airplane mode you'll even get better battery life!

What's the point? I think that everyone who has this phone can agree that under "normal" use, this phones battery is not very good. To have to turn off all different types of features (Bluetooth, 3G, Wi-Fi, push, etc...) in order to improve battery life should be unacceptable.

Let's be honest, 2.1 did nothing to improve battery life. Yes, my 3G signal strength now shows a higher level, navigating through the phone is a little faster and the genius feature is pretty cool. Battery still stinks...

No kidding fanboi.........

WTH is the sense in owning a phone if you have to shut everything down to get good battery life!

And i can tell you right now..........if your iPhone battery is lasting 2 days without a charge, that is pure BS or you never get phone calls or TXT messages cause you have no friends!
Use the phone with all it's "great" features and the battery will NOT last even close to a day.........period. (average use)

You're crying, and my phone is still working well.

Let me defend my answers to you guys: Bluetooth off: So what. I don't use my blueant nearly as much as I thought I would. I actually prefer using my headphones.

Wifi: I never said I turned that off. It's on, and it's great. I have work, school, and home wifi set up. In between is 80% 3G.

I don't text? Well, I do about 1500 a month, and 1500 minutes a month. I'm not a phone addict, but I do use my phone quite a bit. I actually bought a car charger, and haven't been forced to use it yet.

I don't have to shut everything down to get good battery life. I use push for MobileMe, which is always on. I've gotten such great battery life with 2.1, that I turned on the check email every hour...

I live in the greater salt lake area in Utah and I drop calls constantly. 99 percent of the time I have full coverage and yes I have 3G turned off (which certainly helps) but I always drop calls. I used to have a blackberry curve before I bought the iPhone 3G and I was able to make calls in my basement with 1 bar without even thinking about dropping a call and now I drop calls sitting at lunch or work in full coverage area.. very unacceptable.
