alrighty. my situation is, I had an iPhone... I got the original one last year, first day it came out. Maybe two months ago it started to have a lot of problems, and getting tired of waiting for the 3g iphone to come out, I broke down and got a blackberry curve. Well now I'd like to try out the new 3g iphone. So my question is, since i had an iPhone and its clearly visible I had one on my account history,(still have the receipt for it) would att allow me to get the discounted price on the new iPhone? Judging by my situation, and the fact that I'm never late on paying the bill, and that I had an iPhone..do you think they'll let me go, and just add another 2 years onto the contract? I'm going to call the att store I bought my original iphone f...

When you upgrade to a new iPhone 3G the system checks to see if you currently have an iPhone on your phone line and checks to see if it was added prior to July 11th. (this is as I understand it of course) So if you have a Blackberry Curve IMEI (serial #) on the account the system will not show you as "automatically eligible" so most likely you will not be able to get the new one at the subsidized pricing. I could be wrong but I would be willing to put money on it that you are not eligible.

NO NO NO NO, I am in the same boat as you, I thought since they said anyone who bought the iphone before July 11th, "Like Me" would get the $199 price that it was a done deal, but they said since it is not on you account now, you are just SOL! I even called AT&T cooperate about this and someone from the Presidents office even celled me back but all I got out of them was, we are sorry but since it is not on your account now we cant help you. They did say that they may have not worded there add correctly, but that they still would not let buy one at the $199 price. 😈

Just a follow up to my last post, after hearing all the bad stuff about the new iphone, I am glad that I did not get one. 3G is not in my area anyway and with all the trouble people are having with the new one and the bad battery life that it has, I bought a 2G iphone off ebay and it will be here today. I way very happy with my first one and if I did not lose it or it get stolen, I would still be using my first one anyway.
