IRU ISSE AT APPLE STORE

So, I got to the Apple Store in King of Prussia, PA.

My bill is fine, my plan does not have a corporate discount and now I am eligible for an upgrade.

Stood in line from 7:30 to 12:30 before I got in.

APPLE WOULD NOT SEEL ME AN IPHONE.

Apparently there is some sort of IRU issue (WHAT IS THAT) and I can only purchase thru a corp at&T store.

This is my 2nd Activation NIGHTMARE. My first one was in June, 2007.

Has anyone else had this issue?

IRU stands for Individual Responsibility User. Which in normal terms just means you have some sort of association with your wireless account and the company you work for. Most people get a discount, (ex: USPS gets 25% off the monthly service) but others do not get a discount.

What I find odd about your situation is they would not sell you the phone. This leads me to believe that you have a CRU account which stands for Company Responsibility User, which means that there is someone that orders all of the phones for your company.

I could be wrong, I wouldn't be able to tell what the problem is without looking at your account to give you more information, but I can not do that without you in the store. So please call customer care (1-800-...

I had the same problem. You need to cal AT&T and have them remove your foundation account number from your account. Sadly this works immediately for some and others, like me need to wait anywhere from 24 to 72 hours for it to take affect.

Both the Apple employees and At&T folks were polite and helpful as they could be.

Apple is holding my phone for me while this issue is resolved, so I still have service on my current phone and have an iPhone waiting for me in the store.

Annoying after waiting in line for over two hours, but I met some very nice people and we had a good time.

Thanks for responding about my "ISSE". Don't you hate spelling errors..!

Anyway, that was my situation - they removed my CRU acct even though I was an original iPhone owner - at one point I switched to a V3XX for about 2 months and then went back to my iPhone. at&t never removed my CRU for my company even though I was not getting the discount. I called customer service while in line (4 hours before I made it into the Apple store) and they removed it.

But, that may be the issue - needing 24 to 72 hours for the system to truly clear my acct of the CRU.

So, all in all after 4.5 hours in line and 3 hours of trying to get this resolved between Apple and at&t, I went home without a new iPhone.

same thing happened to me,i added the fan discount last week,then it shouwed not eligible for upgrade ,so i called att,and they fixed it ,it took about 2 hours to take effect om the accound,after you call,go to att and log in to your account and check upgrade availability,when it says yes then your good to go,thats what i did,i had absolutely no problems....good luck
