iPhone vs. LG Dare

I have been with Verizon for many, many years but find myself seriously wanting the iPhone 3G.

I added an extra line yesterday and got the LG Dare. I have 30 days to return it and owe nothing so I thought i would give it a chance.

When the iPhone is released i plan to get it and then have a hands on comparison. One negative is the iPhone has a 10% restocking fee if you decide to return it within your 30 day window! And for text (who the heck does not text?), iPhone is $10 for 200 minutes and the Dare is $5.00 for 250 minutes.

One thing i noticed right away on the Dare was the touch screen working VERY much better than the Voyager and others. Surely not as good as the iPhone but very usable.

One other thing i noticed was the ...

I have the Voyager currently and for unlimited text it's 10 bucks the iphone is 5 bucks for 200 and 15 for 1500 messages, 20 bucks for unlimited. not sure about the data pricing on the dare but the voyager is 15 for unlimited and another 10 for vz navigator where the iphone is 30 for everything. one of the main things i would ask is how is the web browsing on the dare on the voyager you can't see Jack ****. then when you try to use the touch screen to move around the dame thing clicks on a link and starts loading that page. How are the pics on the dar the voyager takes what seems like 20 seconds to focus so taking pics of my 2 year old is pretty tough. so even a blurry 5 mp is worthless.(and yes before some jack ass chimes in I have tried to...

Web browsing on the dare is much better than the Voyager.
Although the quality of the camera on the Dare is great, the auto focus is a bit slow so you will also have issues taking action pictures ☚ī¸
Have tried taking pics of my pets and it is useless if they don't sit still.......lol.

I do however think web browsing is going to be much better on the new iPhone. It is better already on the original compared to the Dare but the Dare is very useable.

I am in the same boat your in. I've been with verizon for awhile now as well, and I as well was torn between the iphone and Dare. I decided to make a list of the top 5 things I 'needed' my cell to do and 5 things I could 'want but give up'. Using this premise I decided the iphone was best for me. My top five things I 'needed' were.
1. Phone calls: Tied there
2. Internet: Iphone
3. Media Player: Iphone
4. Third Party Apps: Iphone
5. Ease of use/Touch Functionality: Iphone

3.2 MP camera, video capture and MMS are all way cool and works very well on the Dare, however, I can go without that stuff if i have to...and it likes like i do if i want the Iphone.

You must realize though, these are not object standards, to each his own. ...

One thing to take into account is that the DARE is NOT a PDA/Smartphone, and thus, Verizon only charges $15.00 a month for unlimited internet, as opposed to $30.00 for a PDA/Smartphone data plan.

The Apple iPhone has this currently (bundled with 200 texts for the $20.00 data plan), but with the 3G variant, the data plan doubles from $15.00 to $30.00 (not $20.00 to 30.00, the $20.00 is 15 for data, 5 for text). Texting is also being broken off of the iPhone data plan, so in a sense, it is priced similar to all other AT&T PDAs.
Unless folks are getting 50% corporate discounts on data plans, AT&T looses that round.

I have used all three devices (granted not the iPhone 3G, but I did have an iPhone 2G). I currently own the DARE and hav...
