If my new 3G Phone needs repairs or a new battery will I be able to swap out the sims card and use it in my original iPhone until I get the 3G back? I hope so.

Wrong. ATT is looking for a trade-in if you upgrade. You will have to cough up old phone to get new one.

MORTFE, You're wrong. The AT&T rep is not going to ask for your old iPhone back. it is your device. And as for using the old iPhone as backup, it should work...but we have yet to see how the new data plans work on the old iPhone.

If they use my current sim card in the new 3G there shouldn't be any problem switching back in case of a problem. If the new 3G comes with a new sim card it probably won't work.
But then again instead of renting a temp, I presented my old phone something could be arranged. 😕

The SIM cards will be the same. I don't see why the voice WOULDN'T work, but we are not sure about the data yet.

There are very few instances that we have people that have problems with sim swapping. If problems do occur its probably just because your sim card needed to be updated anyways...you know, you cant help when your sim card goes back...we call it fried when your sim cards work; they're not Jesus, they dont last forever. I had the 1st iphone and when I was sent it in the mail, I just used that new sim card. But Ive sold that one while preparing to get the new one and my old sim card will work fine in the new phone. You just have to be caref...

You apparently have no idea what you are talking about or you are very drunk.. The current iPhone does not work with "SIM swapping) If I activated an iPhone 2G and took my SIM card out of it and handed it to you, if you put your sim card in it you would not be able to use it until you plugged it into iTunes and activated it yourself.

SIM swapping is useful if you have multiple phones that you alternate. This does not work with iPhone. You can take the SIM card out of your phone without voiding your warranty. There is no harm in removing your sim card... You would not want to take the sim card out when taking the iPhone in for repairs because the phone will not function without a sim card, how would then find out what is wrong? Get your s...
