LG Chocolate 3 VX-8560

own voice excessively loud in handset

I just got the chocolate 3 and I love it except for one huge flaw: my own voice is very loud in the handset. There's no echo - I hear my voice in real time - but it's still very distracting.

Do other C3 owners notice this or did I get a defective product?
