Spoke to a VZW customer service rep about this at length yesterday. She said that the i770 didn't come up as a PDA model(?) on her list and therefore this new data plan policy CAN be gotten around on this phone by putting a data block on the line meaning no email or internet except where there's WiFi. And for my needs, that's just fine. Text messaging would still work anywhere of course.
She did say that this new policy really applies to ALL Blackberrys, no ifs ands or buts.
Been doing all the research on the Saga and am planning to upgrade my old XV6600 WM2003SE phone to it in Feb or Mar. This rep notated all this on my account just in case.
