I work at an agent location in the west part of VA. staunton, va. and the reception here is just now getting up to par and is still very marginal, but the Rugby has the best reception I've seen, only to be trumped by some Sonys and always usually Nokia.
So to answer your question, in areas with marginal coverage the Rugby will do fine.
The best I'd recommend going with would be either a Sony or a Nokia.
