Text memory can only hold 100 messages?

by tinad23600    Feb 27, 2009, 6:28 AM

As most already know, this phone has 60MB of internal memory and not 20MB as stated on the info portion of this site.

However, the user manual states the following:

"Available memory is shared between all messages. You can store up to 100 messages. However, the exact number is dependent upon message length."

To be honest, the reason that I purchased a new phone was to be able to store more texts permanently (unless there's a way to transfer texts to your PC - my old Metro phone couldn't do that).

My friend has over 1,200 texts (inbox/outbox/saved) without a memory card on their AT&T Tilt.

This has to be wrong - 100 SHARED messages TOTAL??? Why would they relegate texts to a number of 100 with 60MB onboard memory and memory card capabilities?

If I want to store 2GB worth of texts, could I conceivably do that, or is 100 messages the bottom line?

Can anyone confirm that they have more than 100 texts/messages on their phone even with a memory card installed?

Thanks in advance for the help!
