Hi GrumBag! I read your review on this phone, and I have a few questions if you could answer them for me. What color is the backlight on the keypad, is it white ir blue? And is it pretty bright in a dim light? Also, are the ringers pretty loud? I hope this phone is as rugged as they claim. And how is the reception on it? This phone looks pretty awesome, considering it is a rugged phone, compared to the Gzone or any of Verizon's rugged type phones. Thanks a million for any info!

The keypad has a white backlight which is plenty bright in dim lighting, and red around the scroll pad. The ringers are very loud, not just averagely loud but extremely loud! The phone has strong reception, and clear sounding loud ear piece volume. I'm very impressed with this Motorola, its an A+ plus in my book. The speaker phone is amazing too. The phone just looks sharp! Any other questions I'll be happy to answer.

Thanks so much, ArmySF! I was really impressed with this phone when I saw it on phonescoop.com. When my upgrade comes up om the 29th of August, I think I will try this one out. I have had black keypads with white lighting, but they have been kind of dull. Sounds like this is what I'm looking for. I like loud ringers, since I keep the phone in my purse. Is it easy to text on it? They have the alphabet laid out a little different then all the other phones. Thnks for any info. Also, what is the talk time on this, how many hours, approximately? I talk, text, download some songs and wallpapers that different sites offer. But I really don't do any of this excessively. Thanks again, looking forward to hearing from you! 😁

I'm a pretty heavy user and the battery is holding up for me ok, but I did order the extended battery and probably will be using that soon. For Normal use the battery should be fine. The keypad is one of its great features, very easy to txt on. It's just an all around great phone...and I love the color scheme old school silver with some black and red accents looks attractive! I buy lots of phones and many I return, this one is not going back! Take a chance on it, you'll not be disappointed.

Thanks again for the info, ArmySF! Really appreciate you responding. I no doubt will purchase this phone when my upgrade comes up on Aug. 29th. I too have had many phones. But I am really impressed with what you said about this one, and I too love how it looks. Very attractive for a rugged phone style. The other ones are way too bulky, and not good looking at all! If you need to add any info, feel free. Again, many thanks on the information I was inquiring about. When I get this I will post as to how I like it!! 😁

look into the gzone boulder. it might be a little bigger, but its water resistant.

i dont know why motorola would make such a nice phone and not water-resist it ☚ī¸ HOWEVER....

if you google 'golden shellback' its pretty interesting. im goin to massachusetts in august im going to ask them to do it to my lg dare. ill let you know how it goes, but the technology is AMAZING 😁

Thanks, Willy, I just may do that. It's good to compare both of them, although I hear the Boulder is a lot bulkier. I'll check it out, though! Thanks much!

Thanks willy! I really appreciate the feedback. I was doing a live chat with a Verizon re on their website, and he/she stated the the Boulder is a lot bulkier. Have you seen a picture of it, or know exactly how it looks? Any website I could go on to see it? You know any info would be greatly appreciated!! God Bless! 😁

Willv! I saw the Boulder phone. I Googled the name and found some websites to view it. I only saw the front of it, not how bulky it is. The shape of it is not bad, but I don't like the big time piece on the front of it. Looks too big for the phone and kind of gaudy. But I will look at it in the store, come Monday, but I will most likely go with the Moto Adventure. That phone is awesome looking!!!! Thanks for all the info!! 🙂

they say the boulder it a lot smaller (thinner) then the previous which was huge. again the only real difference between the moto/gzone is the look/feel (size and texture), and the water resistant feature of the gzone. both should be amazing though

Hey Willv! I went to a Verizon store today, and they had the gzone on display. The orange and black. But since it doesn't come out till Aug. 4th. they weren't plugged in, but they are awesome looking. I didn't think I would like them from the pictures that I saw, but they are a lot thinner and nicer looking. I also played around with the Moto which I like too. Boy, this will be a tough decision. Thanks for the response. I will have to go back on Aug.4th, and play around with the gzone to see how it sounds, etc. The orange has a black keypad, and the black phone has a silver one. Soooo cool. Thanks again!

moto = 4x2x0.65

boulder = 3.9x2x0.9

gzone type s = 3.8x2x1.1

the moto is thinner, but the gzone is shorter

hope this helps.

(the moto and boulder specs are from vzw.com)

vzw says the moto has a 2mp camera, but in the feature list when you compare the boulder/moto it says moto has no camera lol so maybe we shouldnt trust the vzw website lol

I'm going to get the Boulder too on Monday, and determine which one is better. It being water resistant doesn't make it the better phone. I had the G'zOne Type-V and it was a great phone, but the Type-S had horrible reception and call clarity. I'll know soon enough but it's going to have to be pretty bad ass to beat the Adventure!

Just average. Not exceptionally strong like I would of liked but not bad either.
