Is buying memory necessary?

I just got this phone and I didn't get a memory card at the time. I'm wondering if people find it's a necessity with this phone? The rep at the Verizon store said that it can help your phone run faster by having extra memory. What exactly can be moved from the phone onto the memory card?

In a way it can help the phone run a little faster if you have a microSD card that you save your pictures, MP3's, movies, ringtones and etc to and not save it to the phone and thus clogging up the BlackBerrys internal memory.

To be honest, I would suggest picking up a microSD card and putting it in your phone. They are really cheap and can be bought online for a small price. I would suggest at the min. a 1GB card if not a 2GB.

If you want to use the video camera, a media card must be installed.

Agreed faster is only because you have more memory for phone ON the phone FOR the phone but no apps install to the mem card. its def worth it you didnt by a 2.99 phone that doesnt take pics video voice notes etc you bought a BB. go spend the 20 bucks and get a card. only makes sense.

To clarify, the microSDHC card isn't more memory for the Berry, but more storage. Think of it as an extra hard drive on a computer. You can save your pictures, videos, music, etc. to it. However, it doesn't increase the system memory (RAM).
