Sprint 8330 or Verizon 8330

I currently have Verizon, but I am not under contract and was considering maybe uprgading from my razr v3m. I have been with Verizon for the past 10 years. Before that I had Sprint PCS which was awful and customer service was poor. If I chose the Blackberry 8330 on Verizon I know I will get the stellar call quality I have had for the past ten years and excellent customer service that speak English. Plus I will be able to use MMS without having to use domain names, not like that matters.

The bad with the Verizon curve: GPS is locked down can only use VZ Nav $1O bucks, No support for VCast, no VCast TV, although it isn't available in Miami yet, but is in many smaller markets, makes no sense, not sure Mobi TV will work with Verizon, and it ...

You know you are not going to like sprints service. Besides if you can pay 170 and it works or pay 100 and it doesn't then who cares. Besides you still can port out and then in if it doesn't work well within 30 days.

vzw keeps jobs domestic, att closed the call center i worked at for 9 years, and shipped jobs to mumbai...

vzw curve data port is 10x faster than other models of 8330, (thank-you rim) since vzw now activates more blackberries than anyone else these days...

Ok let me clarify some things. First, I'm not willing to pay Verizon $170 a month when I could pay $99 with Sprint. Im sick of getting nickled and dimed on Verizon. Hell and their customer service is sometimes non existent. I was in a store last week to look at the curve and maybe upgrade and wasn't even given the time of day and there was only one person in the store besides me. Second, why would I want to use google maps that relies on proximity to a tower when I could use real GPS for free on Sprint. Third, If I get Sprint I could get rid of my landline phone with AT&T, that costs me $40 a month with taxes and fees. That is just to have a home phone if I make a long distance call it costs 5 cents a minute. It doesn't matter if AT&T moved ...

This Sprint bashing is starting to get old. I was with Verizon since the Bell Atlantic Days but got tired of having to call up every month and get my blood pressure up to near stroke levels trying clear up a screwed up bill and then I was always starting over like I had never called the previous month on the next cycle! Now Verizon has good coverage but they also have quite a few drop zones too and I live outside a major city on the east coast. Sprint's service has been decent and my only complaints are sometimes the customer service has been poor and often the are slow with getting out the newest phones but their service is fairly decent. As far as the Blackberry, I think Sprint offers more services at a better price than the other 3 maj...

I agree w/this post! I have the Mogul and don't have MMS w/that phone either. I am looking to purchase my Curve, just have to wait a little while to get some discounts! Sprint has great coverage where I live and when I travel, I have no problems and LONG DISTANCE AND ROAMING ARE INCLUDED in my plan!!!! The Simply Everything/900/450 plans are the way to go for smartphones b/c your data usage is included along w/all the other services you would be paying for separately w/other companies.

I haven't gotten my Curve yet, but I've been a faithful member of the Sprint community for years now. I enjoy Sprint a lot and you do have more "bang for your buck" at Sprint and you're not nickled and dimed to death . . .I don't have a house phone and haven't for years b/c of my Sprint plan . . .also, I have the Simply 900 plan, which will work w/the Curve also, just have a small limitation on my minutes plus I still get my corporate discount through my job of 20%. When I purchased my Mogul last year, I was clueless on how to work some things and some of my settings were off, so I spent about an hour on the phone going through diff app's on the phone w/a Sprint rep one Sunday afternoon and the service was excellent. I mean, customer serv...

I appreciate the responses. I definitely agree that Sprint has by the far the best plan $99 for everything just rocks. And I have weighed the pros and cons of each company and their respective curves. With one no MMS, with the other locked down GPS and no TV. To me it comes down to whether or not the phone will work when I need it. So the number one factor is call quality. Second, is cost, but if I can't use the phone even if I pay $99 then it is a brick. I guess then what it boils down to is how good is the call quality on Verizon vs. Sprint? If Verizon is better by how much? Is that difference worth the additional money I pay Verizon? I would appreciate comments, on actual call quality from those of you who have the phone on Verizon and Sp...

It's like you want what you want, but you're letting the Sprint bashers stick in your head. If you're gonna go with Sprint, come to Sprint with an open mind. I've seen your post before, where you talked about how you gave a rep your number and she hasn't called yet "that's bad customer service" blah blah. NO! I'm sure the reason why she hasn't called is because of that nationwide outage. If I can remember as a sales rep we get commission on new sales. Don't be so quick to judge, stop listening to others on this forum and use your own opinion. You have 30 days to cancel use it wisely. Of course people are gonna complain, some people you just cannot satisfy and they live to see Sprint's downfall.

I love my Curve, not having MMS is no biggi...

It also doesn't matter if the Verizon data port is 10X faster since I'm not using it as a modem. Hell if I did Verizon would just charge me more for it then anyone else anyway.

If you don't want to pay the $170...then go to sprint. Why do you need our help to make your own financial decision. I don't know how price sensitive you are or how important saving $70 might be to you. You obviously have all of the facts and the pros and cons. Just make the decision that best fits your needs and your budget.

It sounds like Sprint might be a better choice for you since you seemed pretty concerned with getting "nickel and dimed".

what do you want a curve for? sounds like you want a voyager.

No the voyager is a garbage compared to the curve. For some people that is the right phone, but not for me. I want my email, access to the web, and all the other functions the curve offers.

Where are you getting $169 a mo? The select unlimited + BB which would be $149 not $169. You don't use or need VPAK/mobile web with a BB. So the select with added 29.99 BB service would work and is basically the equivalent of the sprint simply everything plan - unlim talk, txt & data, still more, but not as much as you posted.

Also - do you really need unlim talk, txt? With unlim in calling, free nights & weekends, and unlimted texting - I know I have 0 need for unlimited talk.... just some more to think about in your decision making.

You are correct unlimited is $149.99 for everything except vznav which is $9.99 which makes it $159.99 so I was ten dollars off. I'd like to get rid of my home phone (AT&T) which costs me $40 dollars a month to have a phone for local and long distance calling . That doesn't include making long distance calls which cost 5 cents a minute. I hardly ever use the home phone for long distance since I use my cell phone for that. However, if I had to use the cell phone for all local calling as well as long distance I would certainly need an unlimited plan. If I do that I would want unlimited talk since not everyone I talk to is covered by mobile to mobile (in calling). So it is $99 for Sprint with their nav, plus TV or $159.99 for Verizon, if I don...

I guess I should have said this at the beginning I am trying to limit my monthly access fee to $99 before taxes and fees. So that leaves me with a couple of options. I could stay with Verizon and just get the unlimited calling plan for $99 and not get the curve. I could get the curve with a 450 minute plan 39.99 and data for $29.99 (total $69.9😎, but then I would still need my home phone which costs $40 which makes this option beyond my price point. Or I could switch to Sprint and get the curve and unlimited calling for $99 and dump my home phone (AT&T). Finally, and most likely, I won't get the curve or change carriers I will keep my crummy razr with my 450 anytime minutes on my old Americas choice plan with mobile to mobile minutes and u...

Excuse me for butting in, but I feel like you're more worried about the price. In that case, I think Sprint is the way to go, everything is included on an unlimited basis for the $99 (before taxes & whatnot) . . .you may like the service 10 years later . . .and you have 30 days to try things out, if you don't like it, you can get out of it and go w/VZW.

I know what you mean about comfort. I've had VZW for the last 11 yrs... I looked at sprint too but stayed, I have a family plan with corp discount & it just worked out better for us that way.

I don't know about you but I wouldn't feel comfortable giving up my landline. I've had cells die on me, left it at work, misplaced it, etc. Maybe you're more careful than me, maybe I'm just old fashioned - but in an emergency I like to know there's a phone there at all times for me & the rest of the fam.

I do have to say - I really LOVE my curve!
