Blackberry Redirector question

Okay, I know this probably isn't the right forum for this question, but here goes. I work for a small company. Because of the costs involved to do anything else, I would have to use Blackberry Desktop Redirector to forward my emails to a Blackberry. I currently use a Palm 755 with PC Monitor Wireless Sync. That part works great, but the Palm sucks as a telephone. My question is this: with BB Redirector, would my email be the only thing to sync wirelessly? Would I have to plug in my BB to sync my contacts and calendar?

I have asked this question many times but get a different answer from every VZW person I talk to. I can't find the info anywhere on BB's website.

Thanks for your help!

Have you tried contacting BB directly?

Also, have you tried some of the blackberry specific forums? www.crackberry.com is a good one.

And if you dont like the 755p as a phone, I dont know how much more you will like the BB. In my opinion they are about the same in terms of quality. BB might be a touch better, but I havent tried the 755p, only the 650.

You will need to sync your contacts and calender the Blackberry Redirector will only redirect your email to the device. The other thing if the Verizon reps have not told you with the redirector you will need to keep the computer that is setup with software on if it get turned off your emails will stop coming in (one of the downfalls of the redirector) But as a phone the Blackberrys have been vastly improved over the sound quality of the previous models. i have the 8830 and getting the 8330 (Curve) the main reason i stick with the blackberrys is because the audio quality is awesome and very clear. and they have the best Speaker phone on the market unless you get a Nextel but even then blackberry are a lot clearer in the voice.

First question I have is why are you using the redirector? Why not just go to the BlackBerry website - https://bis.na.blackberry.com/html?brand=vzw - and set up a POP 3 account for your work email.
Then, if you're using Outlook or Outlook Express at work, you can get creative and set up rules for mail handling. I have the BB website set up to BCC my email address with every email I send from my BB. I have a rule in Outlook that takes mail received from my address and marks it as Read and sends it to the Sent Items folder.
