I am new to BB. Does RIM typically upgrade the O/S on existing units (verizon)?
I am specifically looking for HTML e-mail which is not available on current O/S. I am aware of 3rd party apps which provide HTML e-mail, but prefer native apps.

the 8330 will run on the older OS. It should be about the same as the CDMA pearl. I heard verizon wanted the new OS, but BB couldn't deliver it in time
The BB 9000 will prolly be the first phone with the new OS.
Looks like its only 3rd party apps for now.

mainly html email support. Thats the biggest change for me atleast. There are some visual differences, but I don't know how much that will change how the OS functions.

I think you will like the BB OS. It might take a little getting used to, but its much more stable and I think it's pretty user friendly.

They typically don't provide OS upgrades for blackberry, but I heard the new OS will be available on all compatible devices once it drops later this summer.
