Is it too late?

There is a rumor that a new Blackberry 9000 is going to be released soon. So while the CDMA version of the Curve is 1+ year(s) late, the GSM folks will get another new device.

The article calls it the successor to the 8800, but I am pretty sure you can consider it as a successor to the Curve as well.

I agree that Verizon is too late with this one. technology has moved forward and as usual Verizon is left 6 months to a year behind.

Also you are correct that a new Blackberry will be released shortly for the GSM networks.

The bottom line is that the reason Verizon retains customers is not as a result of new devices but due to superior coverage.

Except for the fact that their coverage is no longer superior, and their phones are still garbage and on top of that they disable all sorts of features.

how are their phones garbage? Everyone always says that--but no one really backs it up. Their are just as competitive as anyone else.

Its not that there phones are garbage but if Verizon was not to limit there phones functionality then devices would be top of the line. Case in point if you take the Blackberry 8830 and try to send a song from your memory card to another bluetooth device the phone will not let you but try on a ATT or Sprint 8830 and that feature is unlocked.

Let's not start bashing carriers - to each his own. But Verizon, besides superior coverage, yes superior coverage, aso has superior customer service. And, right now their selection of handsets is actually fairly decent...

wELL,
who ever said that VZW is no longer the most reliable thay need to check out their info, as once again they have been rated (7 years running) the most reliable, While AT&T continues to fall with Sprint. There are a lot of haters out there that say VZW is weak, but the truth is that thaty are not waek, just smart.

You're talking about people hating on Verizon, but why couldn't you prove your point without bashing Sprint?

I know Customer service isn't all that great but the EV-DO is all I need vs EDGE. Don't complain about how people are hating on Verizon when you're contradicting yourself and bashing other carriers. Like the other guy said to each it's own, we all have our own opinions but don't complain about how Verizon is being hated on and you turn right back around and hate on two other carriers.

MizzSprint,
Look at Consumer Reports ratings, each year VZW is ranked #1, while last year Sprint was ranked 5th overall. He's bashing on it but the only true reliable non-biased rankings are confirming what he is saying.

That's true, yes it was ranked number 5 why? because of customer service. Honestly I don't care about customer service I call them about 3 times a year. I rather have service than to worry about how nice the people in customer service are.

Sprint strong points
EV-DO
Good service
7-6pm Standard nights
The simply everything plan
connection cards- UNLIMITED service we all know Verizon has fine print you're paying 60 bux a month it's unlimited but not really.

The phones aren't the best but hey I rather have coverage than a cool phone or both.

Customer service can be better, but if you're not a person who calls in about everything you wouldn't have any problems.

MizzSprint,

Customer service isn't the only reason. If you look at the categories for Consumer Reports and JD. Powers, Sprint ranks last for both customer service and for Voice Quality.

God, you guys need to do your research....

Verizon doesn't make phones. RIM does. And they are the ones that choose to make GSM phones first. If you have a problem, call RIM and tell 'em to get their act together when it comes to cdma devices.

And verizon retains customers because they have competitive plans, great phones, and easily the best customer care of all the major carriers.

The CDMA curve also added video streaming and video capture--2 things the GSM curve can't do.

God, have an understanding of the cell phone market before you get on your soap box!

RIM chooses to make GSM phones first because 3/4ths of the cell phone industry around the world is GSM, they stand to make the most money by rolling out phones that can be bought and sold to anyone in the world that is on a GSM carrier. RIM is a business and they are in it to make money, wouldn't you be?

There are sacrifices that are made to be part of a CDMA network and one of them is waiting for phones. It is a more advanced network but only a few carriers have chosen to go this route. So either go get a GSM carrier and get slower data speeds and diminished call quality but all of your new fancy phones first. Or stick with a superior technolo...

Posting on this forum should be like buying guns---there should be a waiting period before you can post.

Get off my soapbox? what soapbox? All I said was that RIM chooses to make phones, not verizon. Which is true and you pretty much agreed with me in your first paragraph. And yes I know why companies make GSM first--that wasn't even my argument, you just wrote a paragraph about something that everybody freaking knows! Congrats, you're a cell genius 🙄

2nd paragraph...once again, why are you spouting off about something we all know and that I really didn't even mention in my original post.

3rd paragraph...I never said verizon has the fastest speeds on data, you once again put words into my mouth and made assumptions. Also,...

All I heard was blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah. The amount of time I have been posting on here has nothing to do with what I know and what you don't, or are afraid to say. Verizon sucks, everyone knows it. It's only a matter of time before Sprint has more customer's than them. If you can't take a little criticism then maybe you shouldn't be on here. I think that would probably be best anyway. You seem to be a little sensitive. Just come on here and read stuff, don't write anything. I'll name whoever I want in my posts and talk about whatever I want as long as I see fit and that it's worth writing about or replying to.

blah, blah, blah, eh? Wow, what a great response. I give you a detailed explanation of what I said (or what you claim I said) and you reply with blah, blah, blah. Veeeerrrrryyyy intelligent.

And how am I sensitive? I had to come in here and defend myself. You were quoting me with LIES, thats something I will not stand for. I can take criticism...from people I respect! But you have to earn respect, and right now I have no reason to respect anything you say or do on this website.

You can reply or write whatever you want...but I'll say it again, leave me the F out of it, atleast until you learn how to respond in sensible , normal human being manner.

To the post that said "Verizon sucks." I have dealt with Customer Service just TWICE in my 14 years of being a Verizon customer. Both times were for issues stemming from phones that I purchased on eBay and NOT from them. Both times they went above and beyond to help me resolve the issues. You can say what you want about any cell provider, but Verizon DOES NOT SUCK. And the phrase "you get what you pay for?" Very true.
