Pocket-Dials Fixed by Software????

OK...I will be switching to VZW in about 3 months and so far, the enV2 is one of my top choices. My biggest concern is all the reports of pocket-dialing. Now I'm reading threads that claim a new software update has fixed this. Really? Exactly how did a software update fix a physical problem with the phone? Please explain because I'm really hoping that it was actually fixed. Thanks!

Nope. Did the update to 6.xxxx at Verizon and it still pocket dials. Locking keypad is useless because only 2 keys needed to unlock. Locking phone works but long path to get to feature (unless you turn off phone and turn it back on). "Metal" edging rubs off also. However, phone, text and camera works really well...

Well dang. I was hoping someone would say it was fixed. Here's the deal...I don't really text much. BUT, if I would decide to get the unlimited text plan, I would want this phone (QWERTY keyboard would be a must for me to text regularly). If I decide that I can live without texting, I will probably get the LG Chocolate 3 flip. I really like the enV2 but pocket-dials would be a big problem.

With phone close, hit "ok", go to option number 6, Keyguard Settings, Unlock options, Two step unlock. 😁

Not according to "Howard Forums":

"Using the key to manually set the keylock still resets to 7 seconds however."

That's what I was looking for! Now, why couldn't they have fixed that "bug" at the same time they modified the functionality???

We've never experienced "pocket dialing" since the last week of May when my wife and I purchased our enV² phones. Of course, I don't keep my phone in my pocket more than an hour a week ( I use a belt holster) and my wife's phone stays in her pocketbook.

I had both phones flashed with the version 6 firmware a couple of weeks ago. With the new two-step keyboard unlock that CoolCSI described above, I believe that it is now impossible for anyone, even with lots of loose junk in their pocket, to experience the old "pocket dialing" anymore.

As mentioned, the new keyguard can be set to require you to press followed by to unlock. It's highly unlikely that this sequence can be hit in your pocket and it definitely wouldn't be a common problem.

Personally, I still use the original keyguard, pressing twice and I have only had a pocket dial happen a total of twice since I got the phone in July, so it doesn't bother me at all.
