I am now on my second env2. I will start by saying I really like this phone for most all of its capabilities. BUT, the vibration completely sucks. - You might as well not even have it as an option.

Now for the reason, I have had to replace the phone. When on a call does the phone seem as if you just muted the person you are speaking with? One minute you will be talking and the next it will sound like the person you are talking to is either temporarily muted or cuts out. - I find myself asking, " Are you there?" etc.

I am beginning to think it's not just my handset, as I am on my second phone and the problem seems to continue. I am considering getting another from a different batch/store. Perhaps that might make the difference. - When I...

Correct me if I'm wrong.

When you are talking, you hear what is known as "sidetone" which is you can hear your voice as you speak, just like a normal landline, and Motorola phones. This is a very good property. You can hear yourself and your transmitted audio, including wind noise. OCCASIONALLY this will stop, and you won't hear a thing. (other than the other party if they are speaking) Now your phone seems to be operating like many phones are all the time.-It sounds like a dead box for a few seconds. But it is still transmitting, and the other party still hears you.

I have noticed this, and checked with another ENV2 person (Who is astute enough to notice it!!!) and they have EXACTLY the same performance. It doesn't seem to be a defect...

Thank you for your response!!

Your explanation sounds like it's possibly this but still not really sure.

It just sounds as though the audio level of the person you are talking to drops off or something.

With the " sidetone" I dont hear an echo of my voice or anything. - What I am experienceing is a drop in sound level. - It's like what you would hear if you were on a landline and muted off or in error etc.

Any thoughts??

I cant imagine this is the way the phone is suppose to be by design. - Help!!

Thanks for the suggestion about turning off the voice clarity feature.

Not sure why or what that feature is really even suppose to do.

In any event thanks again, because I think it has made the difference.

There's actually been issues within the network over the past year or so when the line actually goes dead long enough to make the person have to repeat themselves. It does depend on market area, and the actual coverage available, but it is happening.

When I was on Verizon here in Belleuve, WA (edned in December) I had the E815, and that was always an issue from week 2 on through the end of my contract.

It is not the handset. I fear it is the network, when calling VZW phones from my new Net10 phone (using at&t Network), theres a lenghty pause as well-which does not happen when calling anyone else.

It could have something to do with the network shutdowns VZW did a couple years ago, which included them selling AMPS to at&t. (and, from what I can see on PRL files, possibly selling the shutdown towers to Sprint.)

As for today, I have friends and roommates on VZW, on various phones, including the EnV and the V710 (he's switching to T-Mo soon, works for them now) and I've noticed the...

Same thing happens with mine... I thought maybe it had something to do with the "voice clarity" setting maybe? I turned the voice clarity off, and don't seem to notice it as much.
