I have a ic502 which I use for the Nextel WT. Could I swap my simcard into the V950 and still have DC? Or is it something different? I'm not exactly sure what this whole qchat deal is...

There is no SIM card slot. This very different technology on the back side.

However it is designed to function exactly the same when you use it. They still call it "Direct Connect" and it works the same, with pretty much the same performance.

Since it is different technology, you'd need to have your account migrated, but that should be fairly straightforward to do.

Actually it shouldn't even be that difficult, as almost all customers have already been migrated, and the transition to qChat is intended to be seamless. Only question at this point is whether or not you are in one of the markets (45+) that have the service currently available. If so, a store rep will be able to help you. If not, you'll have to wait till sometime between now and the end of the year.

I live in Las Vegas. Is that a service area for qChat?

Thank you for the help. I am quite interested in migrating to a qChat phone, specifically this v950.

Sprints qChat relies on EVDO Rev.A coverage. Last I checked Las Vegas is well covered. Shouldn't have any problems. 🙂
