the interface the the iphone may be a tad bet better, but features....there is no contest. the iphone loses in every aspect...unless you like a phone with barely any features...hands down overall the instinct wins...and i know this from playing with both side by side....

not at all. I went to the att store and the sprint store the same day to test this theory. the iPhone is better, but lacks haptic feedback. which i can live without) but the iPhone is a bit more intuitive, in my opinion.

Well, once the 3g iphone comes out, then the att network is either superior or even. Same goes with gps which the 3g iphone has.

3g wise, only if you have coverage. ATT goes by metro areas on their map. Look for the very limited blue areas. So the 3g iPhone "needs" WiFi. I've read reviews on the GPS being very good.

their 3g is not going to be anywhere near the speed or coverage of the rev a coverage. sprint is using this speed here for the first time in the US for the instinct. honestly the technology for att is about 2 and a half years behind sprints. im sorry but the apple is going to suffer widely over the introduction of the rev A and the instinct.

Actually, no. Rev.A and HSDPA are more or less on par in speeds. And at least with HSDPA you can talk and do data at the same time.

check ur stats man and ull understand that reva is going to blow att's 3g out of the water. not to mention the fact that att is about 2 years behind in tech compared to sprint. mark my words when i say that once the 3g iphone comes out ur going to hear an onslaught of complaints from their poor coverage for 3g and the same complaints about the iphone limited arsenal and being an owner of and iphone i can vouch for that

Rev A. is already out, my SW 595U is getting it. Check the stats out yourself, Rev. A and HSDPA are about equal.

actually no, from phonescoops own glossary

In terms of data speed and general technology evolution, the closest equivalent to HSDPA for CDMA networks would be EVDO Rel. 0.

(Rev. A)

An upgrade to CDMA EV-DO Release 0, that improves data rates (speeds,) especially in the uplink (upload) direction.

and then you have to realize that Sprint is in the process of upgrading their entire data network over to Wi-Max which is gonna make their Rev A network look slow (which is already faster than anyone else's)

I'm sorry, but AT&T's 3G Network compared to Sprint's EV-DO Rev. A Network? AT&T being superior? What is all this nonsense. EV-DO Rev. A demolishes 3G,

Also, the iPhone 3G still does not have Video Recording, Removable Battery, Mobile TV, Memory Card Slot, Haptic Feedback, A2DP Bluetooth support, MMS... All of which the Instinct has.

The iPhone on Sprint's network would be pretty awesome. Don't get me wrong, the iPhone is a great phone, but the Instinct is one hell of a phone as well.

Come June 20th, this little bad bad boy will be in my pocket, along with all the great features it has, and rokcin' it on Sprint's EV-DO Rev. A Network. It even has an FM radio, which is sweet.

Everyone with an iPhone 3G is gonna laugh at you. What difference is EVDO Rev. A. gonna make? Video quality was spotty, and according to Phonescoop, the speeds weren't all that impressive (even the EDGE iPhone can do better than Google.com in 30 seconds!) and even if it WAS faster, what good does it do if you got a crummy web browser to begin with?

If you Sprint fanboys would do a little research, you'd know that EVDO RevA has a MAXIMUM data speed of 3.1mbps and that HSPDA has a MAXIMUM of up to 20+mbps. You keep refering to the 3G speeds when comparing Sprints data to AT&T. AT&T is now at 3.5G, not just 3G.

That being said, BOTH Sprint and AT&T are both capping off their download speeds at around 1.3mbps. You can find those facts if you'll Google more than "sprint fanboy sites". So even when and if Wimax rolls out, HSDPA will still have the capability of faster speeds. But it doesn't really matter what the capabilities are if the carriers are topping them off at the same speed.

Now, Sprint has the advantage of more 3G coveage for the time being but AT&T has the advantage of no...

a lambo or ferrari have top speeds of 200mph... but where can you go that fast? no where in the usa. thats the first i have heard of 20mbps... how about realworld europe tests maintained download speed of 130mbps? makes 20 seem pretty slow. att made one good move and that was the iphone, and everyone thinks they are the best.

who cares about any of this...alot of ppl talk about what the iphone doesnt have...and fail to realize what its capable of. Over the air downloads will allow for video recording, stereo bluetooth and mms...as far as removable battery, mobile tv, memory card, haptic feedback, if you want all that stuff get a phone with that stuff and stop waitsting your life on a forum talkin bout how the iphone doesnt have it...obviously six million ppl didnt care..why do you? exaclty, the instincts alright, small screen badsignal but it looks nice. Not an apple fan boy but i do own an ipgone and i love it 🙂

instinct is nice looking, nice touch screen, nice features bad signal but a pretty good network depending on where you live. Its just really plain to me, customizable but in a boring way. Screen is kinda small which makes browsing difficult if not irratating and not enough pixels so no real clarity in the screen but this is by far one of the best (phones) out.

Iphone is more than a phone...a smart device and it does make me mad that all the features the instinct has the iphone doesnt come equipped with but...apple chose a smarter route in the long run. Knowing alot of ppl dont use video recording was a good reason to leave it out...so for ppl that do enjoy recording can download the app when released and those who dont want it can free up...

Arron,
This is a message board, I can post my opinion and if you don't like it , why don't you stop reading my posts. Oh by the way it's more sense, not since, read your last post. Part of phone usage is service and if there is something I don't care for in the service I am going to post it.

Stevensocal:

You must be new. You wil come to realize that one thing the Sprint fanboys can't handle is you making any negative comments about Sprint whatsoever. Even though many of them will admit that Sprint's main problem is CS, they will flame you endlessly for posting about it.

The bottom line is that no matter how valid your points or complaints are, they are not welcomed here unless they meet the "Official Fanboy Seal of Approval".

I've been trying to convince them of the SAME thing you said. That a forum is for the open and honest dicussion of a product or service, good or bad but they don't want to hear it.

To that, I say, keep posting Brother! No matter what they say this forum is about, I've never been harrased by a...

I wouldn't say one is better than the other. They're two different phones for two different kinds of people. The Instinct has more multimedia high end features than the iPhone. The iPhone and now the iPhone 3G aren't really for people that want the TV and the multimedia with the exception of being able to watch youtube. I love the iPhone and I'm going to buy the Instinct today because I got that invite email for the pre-release... 🤤

Have to wonder how many people lined up for the Instinct day of launch?
I know for a fact the Iphone launch July 11th will be sold out around the Country due to everyone wanting one, since it's the #1 device of 2007 soon to be 2008.
I guess I have already starting reading the posts here for the Instinct and at 4.13 rating I will wait till July 11th for Iphone for all good reason. Lot of phones are trying to copy the iphone but Apple and Blackberry holding the market very strong.

Well I know that I skated in just in time to get one of the last Instincts in San Diego. And no one expects (including Sprint) to outsell the iPhone2 because of the fact that most consumers are brand loyal and driven to buy according to brand name. That's just the way that people buy. I've got my instinct and I'm happy with it and plan to keep it. The only thing I don't like about it is that the browser is so limited but hopefully Firefox3 mobile soon to come or skyfire will help change that.
