Replying to: Using music downloaded from computer as a ring tone??? by car3791 May 21, 2008, 5:00 PM
Very easily. I can get any song you have or I have on my pc to make a ringtone. 1st you need an audio conversion proggy. Then load a song from your library into the converter. Make sure you convert it to mpeg 2, layer 3 and select the whole song and click convert on whatever proggy your using. Me I use audio editor gold. So then create a folder in your documents or where ever you decide to save the new converted file to. Then open the converted file in the audio editor proggy. Pick a part of the song you like the best (usually the hook or chorus). Delete anything on the song that you don't want to use. Then delete anything you don't want to use after what you selected. Rember the SyNc won't play anything over 300kb. I have all my ringtones about 29 seconds long because your phone doesn't really ring that long anyway. Then the final step is I like to fade out the last 5 seconds of my ringtones to make it sound pretty proffesional. So now you need to create another file in your docs or wherever you need to find the file again. I just named my folder, ringtones to keep it simple. The hardest part for me is I can't get my phone to talk to my computer. I've got the cable and it still doesn't connect to my phone. But I can get it to recognize through bluetooth, but that is such a hassle. So again I just use my card reader and copy the file to that and the put the card back in my phone and it works flawlessly. I can easily make any song into a ringtone in about 5 minutes now. But follow those directions and you should have no problem at all. Contact me if you need some more assistance. My Email should be around here somewhere. Anyway goodluck and have fun. WoRm503. WoRm503@hotmail.com
