The real shine has a schneider lens and auto focus. Looks like the at&t has a regular lg lens and no auto focus. The real shine also has a document viewer.

And who knows what else has been changed. A carrier phone will never compare to the real deal.

I agree at&t has taken very good phones and done some very bad things with them. I always get my phones direct and not from at&t. Nevery listen to anyone who advises you to get phones from at&t. The service is very good then phones are not as good as the originals.

What about price point? I doubt most people would pay more for something that hasn't been hyped to all hell...

Sorry, forgot to finish my thought, but basically, the camera lense (especially) and scroll wheel would make it more expensive.

I know it still won't be as good as the original, but consider who they're selling to: a market of cheap people that want things easy.

I had the real one it was a piece of junk, when you spoke to someone it sounded like they were inside a tin can. Nothing worked on that phone I mean NOTHING for the money I spent on it was a waste. I took a LARGE lost!
I rather be a cheap person in the market and get a phone that works and does what is suppose to do. I'm a CEO and I need a dependable phone.

Try to remember guys, there are only a couple of people who are not happy with the changes to this handset, yet those individuals are out-numbered by those who see this phone as a fresh and high end addition to the lineup currently offered. All I ever used to read was, "AT&T never gets nice LG's" or "LG's on AT&T suck!". We are listening to many of those people, and I personally thank them, it is because of those individuals that AT&T takes the necessary steps to bring phones like the SHINE here to the US. Even I look at some of the phones on our lineup and wonder whats going on at HQ, but then I remember and apprciate the advantage of GSM, all I gotta do is switch my SIM. Could be worse right, we could use CDMA... try being stuck with a...

I started this thread because i was disgusted by At&T having the shine, i meant it should be on Verizon which is the superior network with CDMA.

I wouldnt go that far. Im no special friend of at&t however it would be a long argument over which network is better that no one would win. I will say this much that your beloved Verison just chose GSM to move their 4G network furure to. So what does that tell you????? the furure is GSM.

You know, I refuse to go back and forth regarding both the AT&T and VZW Networks. Currently, both companies are great competitors and both have their advantages and disadvantages. JKBRIGGS makes a great point, if we're talking network, CDMA/EV-DO is dead in the water at this point, with nowhere to go, and most companies knew this almost a decade ago, hence the reason GSM is the uhhh... GLOBAL STANDARD. Even the company that has the highest stake in VZW, VODAFONE is primarily what? GSM... oh yea, and VZWs 4G plan is what? GSM. So if you're looking towards the future, which matters for every business, which network is superior in the end? The beauty is everyone is still entitled to their own opinion. But obviously VZW CORP kinda answer...

LTE is not GSM. LTE is not CDMA. And neither are going anywhere for a long, long time.

The end.

LTE short for "long term evolution" is a GSM based product or to say the next step in the GSM evolution not CDMA that should see life some time at the very end of the decade. This really signals the end of non sim based cdma products in the not to distant future.

I buy my phones direct also, I've been using an UNlocked/UNbranded Nokia N95-3 for 18 months, almost June 2009 and I'm still happy with my N95.

I bought a red shine for a friend.

Anyone that wants a good phone knows where to get it. And from the carrier isn't the place. So to all of us that buy unbranded phones, it doesn't matter what at&t sells, or what they do to their phones.

Anyone who wanted a shine would have bought it and probably sold it by now. Anyone seeing the shine for the first time when seeing it on at&t doesn't know **** about phones and the exact person the at&t shine is aimed at. The impulse buying idiot that wants a cool phone.

The majority wants free or very cheap phones. I doubt most of the public knows the difference between a 2mp and a 2mp schneider autofocus lens. Not worth the cost of the better lens when most won't even know the difference. And by removing the document viewer they get t...

Thanks its the truth. The phones from the carriers are stripped down to a cost and profitibility model that wors for them. Fact is of you want a great phone you know where to go and its not the carrier.

I'm sure, LG can make a good phone, i'm just saying it looks like something someone from the 60's would design for our "Moon bases in the 1980's"
