I've been starting to notice a trend with newer phones that have a 2+ mp camera, and that is that they won't zoom when they are on the full 2mp camera setting. It usually states "cannot zoom, picture size is too big" if you try and zoom in.
AT&T's website shows that the camera has 2x zoom on it (not very much).
Most of the time, if you absolutely need to zoom, there is an option in your camera settings to change the picture size to 1 mp or VGA. Most phones only let you zoom on the VGA setting, because the picture size is so small.
