Turning Off 3G?

LapTopDog

I received my LG Vu on Monday, and I've already had to charge the battery twice. I read in the Review section that turning off the 3G will help to extend battery life. I couldn't figure out how to d it, though.

I called AT&T to ask them, and the guy I talked to said I was crazy and that it was not possible.

Anybody know how to turn off the 3G function?

I found out how to do this, anyway, so I figured I'd answer my own question. 🤣
(in case anyone else comes here wondering how it's done)

Here's what I found on another website:

Here's how to turn off 3G on the Vu if you don't plan on using it.

1. Dial 277634#*# on the keypad to access the Test Menu
2. Select Modem Settings
3. Select Network Mode
4. Select Network Mode (again)
5. Select what bands you wish to be active. (select 2G if you want to make the 3G searching stop. This is what reduces battery life.)
6. Press the Clear/Back button until you return to the main screen

Shutting off 3G just about doubles the battery life.

I tried it again on my Vu, and after entering all of those numbers and symbols, it tskes you right into the Phone Test Mode - at least it does on mine. I did notice on the display screen that it was putting those hyphens in there, but it didn't stop the phone from going into that mode. Are you entering all of the numbers and symbols, anyway? Once you hit that final # sign, it should take you right into it.

well since i turned of 3g it really didn't seem to make much difference in the battery of my wife's phone. the drain time still seems the same. about 24 hrs is all she gets. 3g or no 3g. doesn't matter anyway, she loves the phone.
