LG Vu / CU920 / CU915

I can't figure out how to stop getting alerts when I have a new email. It's not necessarily bothering me except for the fact that it beeps every time I have a new one. And I don't want to set it to vibrate or silence because I want to know when I have a new text message and the phone seems to put both of those in the same "message alert" setting. Is there a way to get text or picture notification without getting email notification?? I get so much garbage email that I would never want to check my email everytime it says I have a new one. Anyone else run into this problem?? Any suggestions??
