I had the Q9h from AT&T and returned it, and here's why:

I previously had the Samsung Blackjack (original) and loved it. Samsung tweaks the Windows OS to make it more user friendly. This includes easier access to menu options and the ability to customize menu options yourself.

The Q9h almost went in the opposite direction. It's as if Moto wanted to make navigating menus as complicated as possible.

But more importantly, I wasn't able to set up my pop3 accounts. I spent hours on the phone with AT&T (and for once, got a smart person). Never got it work due to various connection/sync error messages that no one could figure out. And so back went the Q9h. Fabulous call quality but that was the only positive.

Hope this helps.

I was looking forward to the Q9, but now that I've used it I'm really not that impressed. I'm buying a BlackJack II whenever it comes out.

Even if you have PCs at home and work? I'm also trying to decide between the Q9h and the BJ II. If the BJ II has wifi then it's mine!

It won't have wifi. From what I have read about each phone, the blackjack 2 is cheaper and more appealing than the Q9h. I am trying to hold out till the next iphone release (whenever that will be), but for the meantime I think I might settle for the blackjack 2. I also like the 7hours of talk time.

What makes the BJ II better than the Q9h? The reviews on the Q9h offer tons of praise.

From what I have read, the Q9h is bigger than the BJ2 and I have some friends that have used it and they say that the interface is pretty slow. I've read quite a few reviews, about people who are returning their Q9h.

Wait for the BJII and play with both in store. Until then, review the pros and cons of both phones and read these boards.

Make your best guess in the store, try it for a week or so, then swap one for the other if you need to.

I knew that I wanted the Q9 when it was finally released. It has everything I wanted in my next phone. It doesn't have wifi but so long as you have a data package...what does it matter?

I love the BJ I, and I imagine that the II will be even better. One advantage the the BJ II may have over the Q9h is that it should be insurable like the BJ I is.

So I'm fortunate in that I get to test a lot of devices before they hit the market. I've been using a Q9 for about 3 months now, and the BJII for about 2 months. I like the Q9 better.

The keyboard on the Q9 is superior, if you spend a lot of your time doing email or messaging, like I do, that keyboard makes life easier. Call quality on both is about the same. Battery life on the Q9 is better. Telenav works good on both, I like the fact that I can get voice to work with my bluetooth headset on the Q9. The Q9 also has an advanced bluetooth stack that has some cool features like the ability to use your phone as a remote control for doing presentations. Q9 also has the opera browser which is far superior to IE. Lastly the Q9 has Doc...

For those who tested both phones, any comments on application performance? Apparently Verizon version of Moto Q9 is using the same Intel XScale PXA270 @ 312MHz proc. as the old models and response is sluggish. Do you know which processor is used in ATT Q version? Blackjack in upgrading architecture from OMAP 1710 @ 220MHz, 128MB ROM to OMAP 2420 @ 260MHz, 256MB ROM which should give it a power boost.
What is the hands one experience?

ATT Q9 uses the same OMAP 2420 processor and 256MB ROM. The speed of both is basically the same.

The Blackjack II is wider than the original Blackjack as well, so when you put the Q9 and the BJII next to each other there is only a few millimeters of difference between them.

I've seen some of the comments here about the size of the Q9 (which I like)...if you think the BJII is going to be as small as the BJI, you are going to be disappointed.

These 2 devices are basically, from a hardware perspective the same, the big deal to me, and the reason I find the Q9 a better device are the added software functionality (Docs to Go, Opera, BT Presentation software, Voice Dialing), and the fact that the Q9 has THE BEST speakerphone of ANY...

BJII and the Q9 GPS: can you use them with a third party GPS app like TomTom?

How is the BJII camera?

I am really leaning towards the BJII cause it is slimmer than the Q9- according to Phonescoop's specs, the Q9 is wider than the BB8800 and that to me was quite wide. And according to PS specs, the BJII isn't much wider than the original.

Thanks for all the insight 🙂

Ok so ive had the Q9h for about a month now and at first I was totally impressed with the new system. As far as hardware is concerned it is very wide. I know it boast a very good keyboard but the width is just a little too much for me, especially coming from the blackjack. The side keys are pretty much useless and for one hand use its very uncomfortable. If your using the extended battery with it you might as well forget about one hand use because your phone is basically pregnant with that hugh bulge. The one thing i will give to the Q9h is the fact that it has a flash. I am a huge fan of the phone flash and samsung had it on some earlier models but abandoned it. Opposed to some other posters the battery really isnt that good. On a fully cha...

"Monster of a phone like the Q9H"? What are you? A leprechaun?

Considering that most true PDA devices come in the form of the Tilt and Treo form factors, the Q9 is actually a small device. Compared to the Blackjack 2, you are old talking millimeters difference in size. I think I someone can't handle the Q9, I don't think the BJ2 is going to be that much different.
