BlackBerry Pearl 8130

I cannot tether my pearl to use as a modem. After running vz access manager and getting to the last part where you plug the pnone in and hit next. It wants me to manually setup a modem. The modem is there, vz access manager won't go any farther.

Anyone else having problems?
