ME COOKIE MONSTER! ME EAT COOKIE!!! 😳

Sorry, I couldn't resist...

I would say over all, the BlackBerry is the KING for email, and the Voyager may give you the best internet browsing experience out of all the Verizon phones currently out...It really depends on what you like to do more...text/email, or browse the internet.

I too was deciding which phone to get and I decided to go with the Pearl because of it's size and because email is more important to me than internet browsing.

Also, you should note that you wont be able to access any vcast/wireless backup services on the BlackBerry...

I just traded my Voyager in on the Pearl and I like the Pearl better. The Voyager is a half-baked attempt IF you use the phone a lot. If you are a casual user mostly interested in having music/tones to download, the Voyager is better.

Blackberry is better if you are a biz guy and use your phone as such. Just my two cents.

The Blackberry is nice if you want you are more inclined to use it for business but the pearl does well with multimedia. The voyager looks like an attempt to compete with the iphone. but if you like to software to be expandable i would go with the blackberry as you can add software on it from the net. I just got the pearl and wouldnt look back

DEFINITELY GO WITH THE PEARL!!!

I was deciding between the two as well and went with the Pearl and LOVE IT! It's a great phone, email is great, and I disagree with the previous post regarding internet use. The internet works really well and if you get the blackberry over the voyager you will save money on because email/internet is only $29.99, whereas the voyager you would pay about $45 or $50. I love everything about the 8130 pearl. Never had a blackberry before, but learning to use it is pretty easy and already I'd agree with the saying that once you go blackberry you never go back!

I think I’m qualified to help you here considering I have first hand experience with both phones now. I waited patiently for 2 months for the Voyager to come out and picked it up on the release date (Nov 21st) then ended up not even keeping it for a full week! 🙄 I exchanged it for the BlackBerry Pearl 8130.

It isn’t that the Voyager is a bad phone, however, at this point I don’t think it is worth the price and, from using it for almost a week, it does not live up to the hype. I think your decision needs to come down to this: what is most important to you as far as features? The Voyager was made for multimedia and the “ooohh ahhh” factor (honestly). If you want the latest thing, are big on downloading music...

Thanks mb ny for your review. It was vey insightful and helpful. I have had my pearl for 3 weeks and feel it is the best smartphone/phone I have ever owned. I did play with the voyager a few times at the Verizon store and found exactly what you experienced. All the reviews have praised the touchscreen and said there is a learning curve. I still have not passed that curve and found the touch screen frustrating at times.
I do have an option to get a voyager for a week and if I do not like it I can get the pearl back. I may do this but I really do not want to part with the pearl. It would be nice if mobile tv was available but as they say no phone will have it all.
Thanks again for your time and honest feedback.

No because there is no Get It Now on the Pearl. BUT, you can easily back-up the Pearl with the included software and USB cable. Even the most computer illiterate can figure it out; it’s very straight forward and easy.

Rawfox you’re welcome. Fact is that was a snippet of all my issues with the Voyager. After reading some other posts I can also tell you the battery life sucks. I may be spoiled because my old non-PDA/smartphone phone had a high-capacity battery. When you’re using the browser the screen stays lit even when the unit is left idle. Why they didn’t design it to shut off?? This is a real battery killer! Also once the battery gets down to one bar (whether you’re using the phone or its idle) you better charge it quick because it dies and shuts itself off pretty quickly. …OK no more Voyager bashing I think you get the point.
