Pearl with Google Maps

I just ordered my Blackberry Pearl today with Verizon WIreless I have read that Verizon has modified the GPS unit, I was wondering if there is any ways to use the GPS in the phone without using VZ Navigator such as Goggle Maps or other software. I would appreciate if anyone with any experience in this would share. Thanks in advance for your help.

I receive an error message everytime I try to download google maps.

I have had the same problem. I was thinking of turning the GPS on to see if that makes a difference?

Verizon blocked it out, there is no way yet to use GPS with anything other than VZ Navigator.
