Can I disable NAI on this so I can connect to my Tapwave Zodiac to get internet via BT without having to pay for Tethering? (Whats the difference if I browse on my Palm Zodiac or on the palm Centro to sprint :-)

Can I use MP3's as ringers and can they reside on the Mini SD card?

Does it support Picture caller ID ? can these reside on the SD card and is it large or tiny?

Are the pictures independent of the phone software? IE can I access the pictures from the file system unlike on a normal phone? such as uploading pics to flickr etc..

Does it support Independent Voice Dial? (Like Sanyo's)

Is the battery user replaceable?

This would be my first experience with a Smart Phone or PDA phone hence all the questions. I kind of want...

--No, stop being cheap.

--Not as far as I can tell, and no.

--Yes. They will be saved as a field for the contact, so it will take up room on the device, and small, centered in the middle of the screen.

--Kinda, but dont expect sites like Flickr to work correctly.

Not wanting to pay $40 to do what I can already do from the phone has nothing to do with being cheap. They are both palm devices. Whats the difference to sprint if I use one palm over another palm. The same quantity of data will be used either way. I just happen to prefer the nice massive screen of my Zodiac over the phone :-) Plus the piscel browser rocks at 480x320 :-)

The no mp3 ring and tiny pic id is a deal breaker for me I utilize those features heavily :-(

Oh and $40 is $5 more than my total monthly bill. You think I should more than double my phone bill just to gain access to piscel and that extra 160 pixels? yeah I guess thats being cheap :-)

There was a DUN hack for Treo's that allowed free PAM use... dunno if it works for Centro.

Or...

You could buy PDANet software by JuneFabrics, which allows you to use your phone as a modem without the monthly Sprint Plan.

One time $35 fee for PDANet

or pay Sprint $40 per month.

It's your choice.

One time $35 sounds nice to me :-) I will check them out.

Now I just have to see if someone has hacked a way to use mp3 from SD card ringers and if I can somehow hack full screen picture caller ID :-)

Thanks for the replies MUCH appreciated!

1. What's "NAI" ?

2. Not without a separate program, but you can download regular ringtones and call tones.

3. & 4. I don't know.

5. Yes

6. Yes.

NAI is how sprint determines the difference casually between ON device usage (covered under vision plan) and OFF device usage (covered under PAM usage)

I just want to use a different PALM (same OS5 even) to access the internet from because my zodiac has better speakers screen and battery life :-)

AS for mp3 ringers there IS a separate program to use MP3's off the memory card as ringers? got ny URL's for these ?

Thanks!

I don't have any, at this time. You can find them through the "Sprint softrare store" icon on your phone. I'll keep ya posted.

You can use a 3rd party application such as Ringo Pro, which will use mp3s on your micro sd card as ringtones.

To get MP3s as ringers:
Download MiniTones 0.1b from http://mytreo.net/downloads/minitones,1053.ht ml It lets you put MP3s in you ringtone folder the only drawback to this is that it copies the file to main memory and can be a memory hog, it does not convert MP3s to MIDI.
