WiFi?

I was pretty sure I hadn't read anything about this phone having WiFi, and if it did have WiFi I would have expected that to make pretty big news...

That being said, the FCC filing has the 800Mhz, 1900Mhz papers listed, as well as 2.4Ghz...

Anyone have an explanation for this?

WIFI, WIFI, WIFI, WIFI, WIFI!........................................ ...................Why are a lot of people sooo concerned about their smartphone/pda having wifi capability??????.............Espcecially if you have Sprint service. Sprint uses an EVDO/REV-A technology aka (400-700kbps) aka(the fastest and most efficient out of any other network) WHY WOULD YOU WANT TO USE (WIFI) KNOWING THAT USING THE REGURALY WEB WILL BE MUCH FASTER AND MORE EFFICIENT???................................. .................SOMEONE PLEASE EDUCATE ME.

relax... it was just a question. i use the evdo rev a data card (novatel s720) pretty much daily (s620 before that) and have had been using wireless data on sprint since being a beta tester for businessconnect when it was wap-only. knowing the battery life when using wifi would likely be less than evdo i would pick evdo over wifi anyway -- the speeds are more than adequate. it was just a question.

it's because people dont always get service. inside a place like i don't know.. a hospital or an office building. And they need WiFi to do business or just pass the time.

Well for one you don't always have Cell service or even EVDO service. What I think is really too bad is that it doesn't have wifi and it doesn't have the option to use WiFi instead of cell service. It would be so nice if you could make "free" calls from wifi locations with the sprint plan. That way WiFi would act as a cell extender.

have you read or Airave? Look into it...free calls from inside the Samsung AirRave. its out in select markets. It kind of gives a 5,000 meter radius, and all calls within this radius are free. I think it was Ubicell or something in the past. But the hardware necesary to purchase is only like $50 buckaroos...it extends coverage and reception. pretty kool...

Because EVDO coverage is not complete. Because When you goto a hotel you might be on regular vision (13kbps) but have free WIFI access

Because LARGE downloads are not so effecient over EVDO

Because (assuming the hardware can handle it) it would allow you to "give" wifi access to anything that also has Bluetooth (though anything such as laptop with BT access likely also has WIFI access)

Plus sometimes its just nice to have and not worry about a data plan.

Isn't that the same technology that verizon has? EVDO/REV-A??

No, but shouldn't EVDO be fast enough?
