Are we supposed to be impressed?

I'm a big Palm OS fan, but how can anyone be impressed with seriously outdated technology? I have a Treo and like it a lot, but any modern expectations fall short.

heres an idea...

get a couple million dollars and buy palm and make your own phone. im sure it will be outdated within a few months anyways.

and if your such a palm fan then why are you complaining about this new palm. its basically the same as yours anyways 🤣

i hope your phone takes a crap on you for making fun of its family

I think that guy is mad because he paid like $400 for his phone and they just came out with this clunker for $100.

He feels the burn

100 bucks and you're not getting much though. I'd rather have the bigger one with larger screen and better feeling keyboard. Oh and one that doesn't look like it came out of a plastic package in a grocery store toy section.

palm centro is for regular folks. It is not for people who have an account on glorious Phone Scoop. We know better.

How many regular people will buy this phone just because it is labeled as a "smart phone?"

Everyone wants to be cool, especially those of diminutive intelligence. They want something to make them appear better than they are.

Just like dudes driving trucks. It makes them feel "big"

Sprint knows this. They will make vast sums of money just in time for Christmas.

hey, I've got an account on phone scoop, and as huge as the forum is on the centro, quite a few people do. over clock the processor, and spend a few bucks on software (if you don't have the warewithall to scour the web for freeware) and your palm experience will be MUCH MUCH better

Me? Mad? Nah, never 👀 I actually have two -- one from Sprint and one from Cingular, paid all of $50 for one and $60 for the other. I'd never pay $400 for this, nor can I imagine anyone. Not that this I'm sure is a fine device, but at some point Palm really needs to become a bit more modern. Hey, they finally got Bluetooth 2.0. Too bad everyone else did this years ago. Maybe there's hope after all. 😁 😁 😁

Cheers!!

When I first saw the Centro, I was underwhelmed, some because of lack of innovation and improvements to the PalmOS over the past 3 or 4 years.

After a few days, my thoughts have changed, the phone is not meant to be a replacement for a Treo 750,755p or the new AT&T Tilt, its an entry level smartphone aimed at teens and young adults who don't wish or have the money to pay for other devices. At $99 for new activation and if one can get a Sero plan on this, damned, up and running for 30bux per month.

Would I more most of those who come to Phonescoop get this phone, doubtful, if I had Sprint, would I get one for my daughters, yes.

Unfortunately, according to their recent reports, it will be at least until the end of 2008 before the next OS comes out. I feel bad for them as I personally cannot stand windows mobile. Just wish Palm would have gotten its act together some time ago...like RIM did. Oops, didn't mean to go there LOL

I AM impressed. What palm os lacks in it's initial phase, it's easily made up for with programs like light speed, and ultimate palm, that lets you totally customize your phone. I think that the fact that people have been able to write awesome programs and the like for palm make it hands down the phone and software i'd want. I've used the black berry os, winmo, and I honestly think palm os is still better. you just have to make it right for YOU

I'm not saying anything bad about palm don't take me the wrong way. However I think its time they updated their software if they want to keep pulling in new customers. The centro is a step in the right direction I mean it looks nice but a new os is needed. Even bb is getting a new one with the upcoming touchscreen and I believe the bold will be newer as well.
