synchronization and pop email
Will the phone synchronize contacts and calendar to outlook? Also, can you set up pop email without paying verizon extra for it and without going through Verison's synch (which is horrible and flawed)?

You would need mobile email which is free with unlimted data plans or 5.99 otherwise. It does not sync with outlook mail. you can sync outlook calendar and contact using bitpim.
