What do you think about the price?

What do you think about the $299 price tag with 2 year contract? I have my new every two I am going to use (I have been saving it for a phone that I thought was worth it), but after you buy a 8 gb card your spending almost iphone price. Now I am not starting a debate about which is better, but you have to admit if the iphone was on Verizon you would probably pick that over the voyager (at least I would). Anyways, about the price, I was hoping at most $249 which is probably going to happen in like a month or so. Thats my thoughts... Sound off.

VZW knows there will be a surge to buy the unit because it is new and is their first with touch screen technology. The problem is the price may make some wait for rebates like wantonsoup. If they do not throw in a rebate, sales may slump. I have to admit, as much as I want it, $299 is not worthy of me rushing out to get it (despite how bad I want to!).

I think the price is reasonable considering the quality of phone your getting. Plus if your lucky enough to have the 100.00 new every 2 credit when you get it 250.00 w/ a 50.00 mail in isnt that bad. Plus who said that you have to get the 8 gig mem card? A 2 gig is more than enough for the average person and you can find those online for around 10-15 dollars. They only thing you might need when you get it is the 50.00 accessroy bundle and your good to go.....that still beats the I phone price.

Wouldnt be suprised to see the I Phone price come down after this phone launches

Yes, it is the same price as the iphone. That seems to be the intent. A lot of people think it's better then the iphone because of the real keyboard, removable battery and removable memory. Not to mention the Verizon network.

I don't think it is fair to list the Verizon network as a justification for the cost of the phone since we are already paying the highest rates for that network.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought that the price of the iphone was what you pay regardless if you sign a new contract or not. There is no 'discount' for a new two year agreement, therefore the 399.99 price for the iphone is full retail.

That is correct, that their is no discount with the Iphone and it's full retail is now $399.99 compared to the Voyager's $469.99 full retail. The catch is, the Voyager's $469.99 retail price doesn't require a contract extension. With the Iphone, even though you don't get a discount at all, you have to sign a 2 year contract. On top of that, there is a 30 day return option policy with the Voyager and any other Verizon phone, with the Iphone, there is only a 14 day policy, plus a 10% restocking fee. So you will pay them $40 just to return the phone, and you only have 14 days to do it.
