Micro-SD problems?

DrRoger

Hi,
I had read on a CNET forum that despite saying it takes an 8 GB micro-SD card, the actual available size is less than half that...one user said his card said that he only had 1.7 GB usable....this is pitiful, 😢 and apparently LG knows about this? Anyone used an 8 GB card and got full usage from the card? Even a 6 GB???
Thx,
Roger

No problem with the 6 Gig card; I have 5.7 gig of space available before loading my mp3 files...

I have a 4gb, 6gb, and 8gb card. I have been unable to load more than 1.7gb of mp3 files on the sd card, and read them all on the phone. Please let me know if you are actually able to load 6gb of files or not, and what firmware is on your phone. Thanks!

I have version 2 of the firmware, and no, I gave up trying to put music directly on the card using a card reader because I was trying to put about 2.2 gig of music on the phone, and when trying to access it in the the phone, the phone said "initializing" for about 8 seconds then just rebooted...

I don't mind using VCast music manager if only I could get playlists on my phone from the PC....

That's the whole point about the firmware (version 2 is what everyone has, and what the every Venus shipped with) not working for more than 1.7gb of music! You should be able to drop and drag mp3s and playlists without any issue. The VCast Music Manager is just too time consuming. What is the point of converting everything to WMAs anyway?

I just checked my card after using V Cast manager to copy my files over and they were NOT converted to WMA; they are still in MP3 format and did not get converted by the program.

Interesting...check this out:

I'm pretty sure it converts them all to WMAs. I don't feel like messing with it myself, because I always just stick MP3s in the my_music folder, and NEVER have any problems...
