Speakerphone

Happened to stop by VZW Store today re: something on my current (broken) phone and the Venus was on sale in the store. I tried to find the answer to this question, but could not since the phone was not yet activated.

Anyway, let's say I have the Venus and someone calls me. Is there an option to answer the call right on speakerphone without sliding the slider up? I am a big user of speakerphone and looking for an LG phone that easy as possible to use speaker. I know some Samsungs have a button on the side to hit and put the call directly on speaker, but I'm hoping this Venus has something similar on the bottom touch screen.

Anyone know?

YES you can!
When you've got an incoming call,
Just hit the music button to unlock the lower touch screen. Then hit the Answer button to accept the call. Then press the big red "Speakerphone" button which appears in the center. And you'll never have to open up your phone!

Thanks thats great news!!

I guess the touch screen is always locked and can only be unlocked by hitting the side button? I know what you said above is a pretty easy process but just wondering as I'd be doing it very often..is there any quicker way? I.e. what happens once the phone is unlocked and you hit "Answer"...I guess it just picks up the call and you can use the phone non-speaker without sliding the bottom down?

Yes you can. When the call comes in a "lock" will appear on the touch screen, touch the lock, then touch answer, then touch speaker, all appear on the touch screen when you get a call.

Great phone so far, had to return a Gleam due to lack of reception. I was only getting 1 or 2 bars at most. Venus so far giving me full bars.

That's sick...

Thanks for all the info. I don't know much about sliders, I've always had flip phones. How do they work out long-term? Is there some spring mechanism that holds the slider tight in place either up or down? i.e. does the "slide" wear out over time or no?

Sliders are fine. Personally, I love them. They are just as durable as flip phones.

i was at the verizon store today and i was checking out the LG Venus and Voyager.. i have a few questions if anyone can help..

1. using the venus.. is there a touch screen number pad.. like can i dial the number without sliding the phone open? (like how it's done on the voyager)

2. can i text message using a touch screen number/keypad?

3. can i lock the front screen on the Venus so that i don't accidently make calls?

I don't own the voyager so I can' t comment on that but

1. There is not a touch screen number pad. The phone slides up to show a regular number pad. The voyager, as far as I know is entirely touch screen.

2. Regular number pad.

3. The phone automatically locks when you slide it down so know problem there.

The venus is part touch screen and part regular. Hard to explain, try and play with a live one and you can see what I mean.
