Hola - I'm a new owner to this phone so, well I'll chip in my best reflections.
Battery: Yes there is an "as needed" WCDMA setting . I've been experimenting with it both ways and "as needed" has definitely stretched battery life from maybe a day into the day and a half range. Also-the battery does seem to condition-I'm in my 3rd week and it's going a full day no problem.
I'm cheap also - bought a 2 Gb card for 24 bucks at the shack. Works great. Dunno about 8 gig but I'm charging my old 512 Mb nano as we speak-EBay25 bucks-you really need 8 gigs????
My impression-its not as smooth or seamless as an IPhone, at all-but for 50 bucks as a 2 yr online contract refurb I'm pleased. Although gotta say - If I get a big birthday check from my rich aunt I'm putting down 500 for an N75 3rd revision LOL!
