Horrible battery life

I heard that the battery life wasn't great on this phone, but my son really wanted it (mostly for styling, but partially for the music player - he's 11). We bought it exactly 1 week ago today and have had to charge it 4 times and his talk time is just over 7 minutes for the entire week! He hasn't used it for music yet (the MicroSD is still on the way from buy.com) and we have spent just a little bit of time in the menus getting things setup. This thing may be going back if we can't find a way to get more battery life out of it!

Any other real world usage reports out there?

Yes, the battery life is horrid. I use my phone a lot and barely get to 5 o'clock. My wife never uses it at all and its dead by ten o'clock if your lucky. Don't know why, and don't know any short cuts to fix it. I just bought an extra battery.

Yes, unfortunately I can confirm the battery life is pretty bad. I've had it for 3 days, and each day I used it quite a bit (calls, plus playing with the blazing-fast browsing/google maps).

But yeah, it's basically dead by like 5-6pm. So far it's been my hobby to look for power outlets to charge it. I'm _considering_ keeping it, because I think I can live with it, and probably won't use it SO heavily, but it's far less than idea.

Another strange thing is that it takes about an hour to do a full charge, which suggests the battery might be small overall.

I am also only on day 3, but I can report that mine (wifes actually, but I'm the one to decide if return or not as she hates messing with these thnings) has gotten better since the first charge. While it's new, don't plug it in until its dead or very close, then leave it powered off while charging fully.

I know they are not supposed to (marketing literature) but I believe they will develop a battery memory if you recharge them when only partly drawn down when new. Ours too died after 6-8 hours of lite use and menu setup time, but now is making it over 24 hours and still about half battery life. If I can get it to 2 days average life I'll be happy enough to keep it...
