I bought this phone on Sunday and every day the battery dies. The phone talk time is only approx 2hrs!! Can someone tell me how the heck to turn off the 3G so I can make calls and not worry about the battery always needing a charge? Also, has anyone noticed the tone when another call is comming in, it is too quiet. Any way to increase volume?

call up nokia directly at 1-888-665-4228, if they cannot tell you how to disable it, they may be able to do so if you mail it in, that or try the manual

I did call them and they said to call my carrier, AT&T. They disabled the network connections at the phone level and it needs to be shut off at the carrier. When I called AT&T, they said you bought a 3G phone & you were put on that network. No way that tech support would disable this feature. Keep a charger on hand or spare battery.
The biggest dissapointment is that this is a decent phone, but the battery consumption is horrible due to AT&T's control over the phones.
I will be trading this one in tomorrow for a 6085.
Still a Nokia customer, just not a 3G customer anymore.

I also assumed you could choose to use the phone w/o the "3G" network technology turned on. In fact, if you look at the overview/specs on this phone it shows 6 hours of talk time, which I figured was not on 3G is only way they can claim this. If can't go without 3G, how can they claim this talk time, or even close to it?

Wondered if you asked them that in your call to ATT, Nokia? I'm only on day 2 with mine, hoping cycling the batt a few more times builds up extra power like I've heard. If not may look into another phone also...

yes, go with a non-3G phone, it would best, the only other option would be to get the phone flashed over to unbranded software, which would void the warranty through AT&T
