Immediate reactions to my LX

So I picked up a blue LX today (to use in place of my Sidekick III). A few immediate reactions:

- keyboard is different, I think it's more similar to my Sidekick II, gone are the glassy buttons. Not sure if I like it better or worse after using the Sidekick III.

- Same size device, just thinner and lighter. They may have 'moved' some of the electronics by having less rounded edges, in some senses it's larger but definitely thinner.

- Seems quite a bit slower to use, to navigate around (noticeable delays) than my Sidekick III. This is the most troubling aspect of it.

- TMobile told me my SKIII charger would work on the LX and vice-versa - NOT TRUE. The two are NOT compatible.

- Switched from mini-SD to Micro-SD so I could...

My immediate reaction to my LX was, What was I thinking!!! As with you, the T-Mobile rep lied to me about accessory compatibilty. She told me not only were the chargers compatible, but also the memory card. Also she stated that I could use as a modem for my home computer!! She was so wrong! Yes the screen is nice, but the camera seriously should be at least 2 megapixel. You can fall asleep going between screens the interface is so slow. You would think I'd be used to this from T-Mobile!!! I'd rather switch to Sprint(which I probably will) and deal with their sh*tty coverage than stay with T-Mobile and their half *ss attemps at keeping up with compitition and flat out lieing about the equipments capabilities!

I agree with much of your sentiment, although I still think nothing beats a Sidekick (even the SK2 or 3 for that matter) in terms of typing. I haven't been able to find anything I can do e-mail on even near as effective.

Incidentally, I'm leaving the country for 10 days touring Europe with my SK LX. I called today to confirm, 0.99 per minute (ugh) for phone calls over there and $15/megabyte for e-mail/data (big ugh). At first they told me the data/e-mail was unlimited and included in my plan, I had to literally insist they get a supervisor to verify - eventually they told me that was bad information, it was $15/MB. I expect it to cost something extra, but $15/MB ... be serious.

out of curiousity, when the rep told you about the "accessory compatibilities," was this before our after the release? because if it was after i highly doubt a trained representative told you they are considering the ports are obviously different. either that our that representative worked for an indirect or was a complete moron ha.

they kept the 1.3 meg camera probably to keep cost down a bit. 2 meg usually pumps up cost a little bit, and it being 300 with a 2 year contract already, im sure they were willing to make that sacrifice. they also kept out video capture and video playback, which would have been nice... but atleast they added MMS messaging!

so far, I love the phone. I wasn't a huge fan of the previous models, but they reall...
