I recently received my tilt and when its in 3g service it automaticly wants to turn on the media net service on its own. It doesnt show on the main screen but it shows up by the top right near the antenna reception. Even after i go into the manager and turn it back off it will turn it back on shortly. And the worse part is it will lock up the screen to a blank all white screen and you cant see anything then. I did call at&t and they couldnt fix it and they tried having me talk to a htc rep.and he cou;dnt neither. I sent it back but i was wondering if anyone had a solution so when i get my new tilt i dont have the same problem. THANKS IN ADVANCE 🙂

Do you have e-mail accounts set up to automatically update? MediaNet is the internet connection for everything (except blackberry). If you have anything that is accessing the internet, a bubble that says accessing MediaNet will pop up.

I guess I'm not clear on what you mean by "starts on its own." Do you mean that it opens the medianet web page?

yes, it will start the medianet on its own. on top by where it shows the bars of service for the antenna it will show 3g for service and then the real small 3g for when the medianet is ON show up. when you click on it shows medianet is running and the timer for how long its been running. I then go and disconnect it so it doesnt run. Then after a few minutes or less it will turn itself back On again on its own.The HTC rep. was trying to have me reset and do other things with the phone but it screwed up the phone worse. They were not helpful with fixing it.I sent it back but a new one is on its way and im trying to figure out why it happened so it dont happen again. One suggestion he had they may have helped if it wasnt already totally screwed u...

"MEdia Net" is just the default name given to your network connection. If your phone is on, the network connection is on. That doesn't mean it is being used, just that it is available.

I don't know why the phone has two network status indicators, but it does. They indicate exactly the same thing, which is why it's pointless to have two of them.

By the way - if you want to disable your data connection for whatever reason, go into the Wireless Manager and click the 3rd button down on the right. It looks like a little Tilt with two arrows next to it.

That button disables the data connection completely. I used it while I was overseas and I didn't want my phone to use the data connection in the background and rack up massive data roaming charges.

I did go to the manager and turn it OFF but after a few minutes it turn itself back ON without me touch anything on the phone. Why does it start a time counter when the medianet starts it almost as if your gonna be charged fees. But i do have the unlimited data plan

Wow, no wonder the customer service people were baffled, that's very strange. If I use the wireless manager to shut off the data connection, it stays off. There was something very wrong with your original device.

Hopefully the new one you have coming will work correctly.
