LG Rumor...display goes black after 10 seconds
Is there a way to disable that? 10 seconds after setting it down, the screen goes black and wont light up if a text is received. If i have the ringer off, the only way to check for texts is to press any key to make the screen light up...whats the deal? thanks!!

Try looking into your settings. Check your setting for backlight and check message settings for how you might recive a message.

the backlight can stay on for as long 30 seconds and that is it. is your "status light" on? if not, turn it on and it will solve all of your problems. when the light blinks green (with long pauses inbetween the blinks) you have no new messages/voicemails/photos/nothing. if the phone blinks a rapid red then you have something new. if you have a missed call the phone will stay green, which kind of stinks.
the light is a life saver though when you are in school. all you have to do is peek into your bag and check the light. easy as that.
The status light is located on the two soft buttons on the side of the display. kinda small.
